He is best known for his uncanny ability to play terrible in the postseason, (for which former San Francisco 49ers GM Bill Walsh has compared him to Joe Montana) and is thus nicknamed Jake the Snake.

He plays badly in the post-season, yet because of this coaching legend Bill Walsh compares him to Joe Montana? With Montana being arguably the best post-season quarterback of all time?

And what was does Plummer's nickname, which has followed him since his college days, have to do with his post-season performance as a professional quarterback?

Bill Walsh compared Plummer to Joe Montana prior to the 1997 draft and Plummer's pro career; I believe the quote was in a Sports Illustrated article. Also, Plummer's ASU passing records have since been eclipsed by Andrew Walter, who now plays with the Oakland Raiders.--rscottjones 21:33, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"goldenboy jay culter's"[edit]

Plummer last and calling culter a goldenboy is not needed (see WP:AWW and WP:NPOV) unless there a source saying that the Broncos decided to not to restart him because of his last plays, I see no reason for the addition, so removed it 06:47, ▪◦▪≡ЅiREX≡^Talk 1 January 2007 (UTC)

Verify statement, please[edit]

How do you edit the opening paragraph of this page? It's aweful. "and things like that". Was that written by a 10 year old?

Does he still work or is he officially retired from work entirely??? There is no mention of what he does in Idaho except play racketball and live as a family man. Not knocking it, but just wondering. Try google to find some updated information. I'm not sure why you think Wikipedia editors would have special access to information that isn't shared on the article or can't be found via googling. Pat Tillman takes an extrordinary amount of space here. I don't see the relevance. A brief mention of Jake's friendship with Pat and his friends death might even be too much. Any mention of deaths of (or lifes of) his parents, grandparents, siblings, cousins,...? Put a link to Pat tillman's article. Plummer did nothing heroic there, so why the hype? Also - not sure about Wiki guidelines but seems to me his gross professional earnings are a matter of record and also relevant to his decision to walk away. Finally, he sports a beard in today's YouTube video the mention of the beard existing as of 2008 should be changed if it can be verified that the video was taken in 2010.69.40.254.72 (talk) 20:48, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Not listed as retired[edit]

Just so everyone knows...[edit]

Plummer's contract officially expires after the 2009 season, so he can be removed from the Buccaneers' roster altogether at that point. Eagles24/7 15:03, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Technically it doesn't, since time doesn't run off it when he's not active. His contract still has as many years on it as when he left the Bucs. But I'm still going to delete him from the roster template because he'll be off the NFLPA books (since his contact would be expiring if he'd been playing.) I'm tired of having to restore him to the roster for the sake of 100% accuracy when only a few of us know or care what his real status is.►Chris Nelson^Holla! 15:08, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
