Banning[edit]

Jack O'Connor is referred to in the List of Major League Baseball figures that have been banned for life as having been banned for fixing the 1910 batting title outcome. Can someone find evidence for that, because I think that it belongs in the article. Spartacusprime 21:14, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

DOB[edit]

Baseball-reference lists O'Connor as having been born June 2, 1866, not June 2, 1869. Is the 1869 birth date given here reliably sourced? Dozzzzzzzzzing off (talk) 02:40, 29 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I am sure when this article was created (by me, I think), that was the date given. With these old players, information is subject to change quite a bit. So this is normal. I usually go by retrosheet.org now, but you wouldn't be wrong if you followed baseball-reference.com or MLB.com's information, and make the change based on their information in the future. I rely on retrosheet because it seems to be the most updated information for birth and death dates, as well as burials. They use information put out by SABR, later, baseball reference will piggy back the information, then eventually MLB will as well. Stats-wise, retrosheet and BR include all "major" leagues, and the NA as well, whereas MLB won't use certain leagues in their stat calculations.Neonblak ^talk - 10:37, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
