This article is duplicative and and unnecessary[edit]

The main county list includes all the properties in this MRA. I don't see why a separate article is needed; it's an impressive job but it seems to me to repeat a lot of information that's also in the list article. I don't see how any purpose this list serves couldn't be handled just as effectively by writing a section on the MRA in the introductory text to the county list article. I don't necessarily disagree, but there are two issues here: 1) Including all the information on each MRA property in the county list article would expand the "summary" section of most MRA properties by a 2-3X factor. That makes the summaries relatively long, as well as awkward and hard to read when placed in the table format (where the summary section is relatively narrow). 2) A majority of the MRA properties are simply not notable individually, and will never have an individual article (which is why I collected them into an MRA article). What you're proposing, then, is to have the county list article as the repository of information on those properties, which would imply de-linking the name in the list. That's a unique use of the county list article, so far as I'm aware. Not that there's necessarily anything wrong with that, but I think it would be better to get a NRHP project consensus that that's a reasonable use of the county list article. I suggest moving this discussion to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places. Andrew Jameson (talk) 12:04, 3 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Photos?[edit]

@Andrew Jameson: what photos are you looking for, specifically? Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 22:33, 1 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Well, photos of any building that's listed in the article, but not yet illustrated, would be great. Those are:

  • Frank C. Huse House (Crystal Falls)
  • William J. Tully House (Iron River)
  • Van Ornum's Addition Historic District (Iron River)
  • Nels A. Holmes Farmstead (Stambaugh)
  • John S. McLean House (Stambaugh)
  • Lafayette McQuown House (Stambaugh)
  • Charles Stolberg House (Stambaugh)
  • John Swanson House (Stambaugh)
  • James Mine Historic District (Mineral Hills)
  • Spies Boardinghouse (Mineral Hills)
  • Beechwood Store (Beechwood)
  • Camp Gibbs
  • Cooks Run Trout Feeding Station
  • Triangle Ranch Headquarters Historic District
  • Van Platen - Fox Lumber Camp Historic Complex

In addition, contemporary photos of anything that currently has only a historic photo would be a plus:

  • Hiawatha Mine Number One Complex (Stambaugh)
  • Caspian Mine Headframe (Caspian)
  • Alpha Public Buildings Historic Complex (Alpha)
  • Mansfield Mine Location Historic District

Finally (more of a long shot, I know), historic photos of any building that's demolished and currently only has a "lot" picture:

  • Frank W. Cole House (Crystal Falls)
  • H. W. Harte Block – Crystal Falls Village Hall (Crystal Falls)
  • Cloverland Hotel (Iron River)
  • Gottfried Hane House (Iron River)
  • Donald C. MacKinnon House (Iron River)

All of these are individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places, so it's worth going after each one, and in a sense this article isn't "fully" illustrated until all of them are ticked off. If you've got a camera and can hit some or all of the missing ones, that would be awesome. Andrew Jameson (talk) 23:45, 1 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Andrew Jameson: I should be back in the area in the summer, so I'll try to get these images then. :-) Ed [talk] [majestic titan] 03:37, 2 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
