"[Copeton Dam] is so large that when it is below 3% of its capacity during drought, it still has enough water to supply the town for up to ten years ...." Any reference for this? When I lived up that way during the 1970's drought, IIRC it got down to 25%. We couldn't go out on the dam because submerged trees created a boating hazard. But 3%!!! God almighty. Are you sure? No personal experience, but my father who grew up there tells me that 3% is correct, and that it's been much lower. In fact, he says that at 3% they were still releasing (don't quote this) around 300 megalitres a day just for irrigation. ozkidzez91 (talk) 09:08, 2 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
