Neutrality issues[edit]

Another editor has added:

At the first Festival (1994), First Prize was awarded to the production of Utopia Limited presented by the Gilbert & Sullivan Society of Hancock County (Maine, USA), under the direction of Dede Johnson.

This is literally true, but gives undue importance to the Hancock County society's early win. One could as easily point out the Derby G&S Society's dominance of the awards in recent years. If we're going to mention award winners, it should be from a broader perspective. Marc Shepherd 17:38, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I agree. But the wiki is a WIP; and as an old equity draughtsman, I suggest that, to redress the imbalance, someone should contribute mentions of Derby and other worthy honorees. --TheMaestro
I added a reference to Derby and tried to add a little "broader perspective" and also replace out words like "ideal", but feel free to continue to re-write. I removed the POV tag. I don't think there's a neutrality issue here (no one is pushing one winner over another), just a question of what examples to include that will give a well-rounded description of the Festival. --Ssilvers 16:00, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Very helpful. Thanks for your contribution. (I also rearranged these comments to put them in chronological order.) TheMaestro 17:39, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think the revision is much better. There is very little doubt in my mind that the prior edit was put in by someone with a "Hancock County" agenda. Marc Shepherd 01:14, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The dreaded '"Hancock Country" agenda'!! I can't help but notice that the person responsible for the "prior edit" is also the one who suggested that an addition like Ss's be made, and then thanked him for making it. If that person has an agenda, he or she is serving it ill, and I hope that the full wrath of Hancock County is visited upon him or her. I also hope it is only in my imagination that some people are taking this very seriously.TheMaestro 01:34, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment[edit]

Re-assessed as the new "C" class. -- Ssilvers (talk) 01:03, 27 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
