Semiprotection[edit]

Why was semi-protection policy removed? This article gets A LOT of spam. While it was under semi-protection, it didn't get any spam. I believe it should be semi-protected again.--Lenilucho 01:55, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

This article has never been semi-protected. Applying the template does not apply protection. If you want this article protected either contact an administrator or list the article at WP:RPP. -- zzuuzz (talk) 01:58, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, I didn't know how this works. I added it on the list and it was denied. I just added a note on the external links section. We'll se if it works. Thank you.--Lenilucho 07:58, 25 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Just a thought, this article doesn't need semi-protection... protection is usually only granted for very hot topics that have constant revert wars and vandalisms. If all topics like these get semi protected, then wiki would not be so much of a wiki anymore since no one other then members can edit it.--Steven 15:12, 24 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It would be more appropriate to require people to sign up than protect almost every article, though your assertion that it wouldn't be a wiki anymore is flawed - many existing wikis require people to sign up. Richard001 08:41, 26 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Illegal collusion and price fixing category[edit]

Need something on the pricing and collusiong of ink cartridges. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ericg33 (talkcontribs) 00:17, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

End bit[edit]

Very lazy of me to complain and run, but the end of the article could do with some editing for style (the numbered list bit is more of an 'Did You Know' than an encyclopaedia article). GBM (talk) 10:15, 2 April 2011 (UTC) Also the "near you!". End bit needs to be changed. -Ottoo — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.245.36.123 (talk) 03:49, 5 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect or misleading Environmental Impact section[edit]

Specifically the following statement: 'Each cartridge becomes 3.5 pounds of solid waste sitting in a landfill and can take up to 450 to 1000 years to decompose' It might be true for laser printers and some inkjets, but the cartridges for home printers tend to be much lighter than the suggested 3.5 lbs. As an example, Walmart lists the 'HP 60 Black Inkjet Cartridge (CC640WN)' as 0.13 lbs (when full). — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nm160111 (talkcontribs) 03:50, 6 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Purpose of the in-cartridge sponge[edit]

Do you know of any good explanation for the purpose of the sponge in the cartridge that are common in modern inkjet cartridges? The Yahoo! Answers question about this issue is the only thing I found online related to this quesstion and it mainly describes the two points:

  • improving steady ink flow and preventing leakage esp. in case of a nozzle failure
  • retaining a certain portion of ink absorbed in the sponge so that ink manufacturers maximize sales while misleadingly declaring a greater content
