Identity[edit]

Who was this man? The sons of Inaba Ittetsu listed on the ja wiki article for Ittetsu don't seem to have information that matches up with this Masashige. Can anyone provide other sources? -Tadakuni (talk) 02:48, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind, turned out that it was Inaba Masanari, but the name was misread. My mistake. -Tadakuni (talk) 03:02, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

How reliable is "SamuraiWiki"?[edit]

I've flagged citations of "SamuraiWiki" with "{{dubious}}". For discussion, see this; and if the discussion has gone from there by the time you arrive, then look in the April 2008 archive of earlier discussion there.

Anyway, let's discuss the matter at WikiProject Japan (just follow that link) rather than here. -- Hoary (talk) 06:14, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Text needing further verification[edit]

The following text can be easily restored with verified sources:

He was the adoptive son of Inaba Ittetsu of Mino Province, and served the Oda clan following his father's defection from the Saito to the Oda in 1561[1]. In 1600, at the Battle of Sekigahara, it was Masanari who convinced Kobayakawa Hideaki to switch sides, tipping the battle in Tokugawa Ieyasu's favor.[2]
In 1607, Masanari was given the Jūshichijō Domain; he was transferred to the 25,000 koku Itoigawa Domain, in 1618, and then to the Mōka Domain in 1627. Before his move to Mōka he served as karō for Matsudaira Tadamasa, Tokugawa Ieyasu's grandson.

Is it helpful to move this text here for discussion? I would hope so. If the information is accurate, it should be easy enough to verify. If, for some reason, the material is not so readily confirmed, then perhaps this is something which deserves closer scrutiny.

I can't help wondering how this will ultimately play out? Hopefully, it results in a better, more accurate and defensible article; and what we learn here will shed light on other related material. A quick scan using "Inaba Msanari" as the search topic in a Google Book Search wasn't very revealing. --Tenmei (talk) 23:24, 8 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
