Censorship of "Illegal Flower Tribute" in China[edit]

Was the phrase really censored by Baidu? If a page existed on Baidu Baike, I can imagine that it was simply deleted out of other reasons. At least the Baidu search engine does not filter the word, and the search results also include an entry on Soso Baike. There-is-life-on-mars (talk) 12:39, 10 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No, it's not made up. You probably haven't heard about it due to Chinese censorship. Checking your IP address for contributions, all of them appear to be reverts made after someone else posted information critical of China. Is oxymoronic the right word[edit]

"The phrase 'illegal flower tribute' soon became a popular Internet meme in China, owing to its oxymoronic and ironic nature."
