How did it come about that a particular town in Spain was at war with the Netherlands, as opposed to all of Spain? The only citation for that is in Danish XinaNicole (talk) 04:09, 20 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

(Assuming you mean Denmark and not Netherlands) Sorenriise (talk) 15:38, 20 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The Danish source (the notice from the Danish foreign office) is telling that in the summer of 1808 a complement of soldiers, half french and half Spanish, were sent from France and Spain to reinforce Denmark on the invitation of the Danish king, however the Spanish compliment of soldiers rebelled against their French commander and deserted on-board enemy ships. Huéscar subsequently declared war against Denmark (as Denmark and France were allies) -- The source does not actually say, but presumably the complement of Spanish troops which deserted were from Huéscar. Proposed merge of Huéscar-Danish War into Huéscar[edit]

This is a fun little local event, but it doesn't constitute an actual war. It seems more like if the city council of Paducah symbolically declared war on Russia. It's not notable enough for its own article, and can be handled perfectly well on Huéscar. Apocheir (talk) 00:46, 13 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No opposition after one month, so I went through with the merge. Apocheir (talk) 00:24, 20 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
