Owana Salazar wrote in a press release, "Owana Ka'ohelelani Mahealani-rose Salazar of the House of Keōua Nui -- Father of Kings, by the Grace of God, Princess of Hawaii, is a direct descendant of Keōua Kalanikupuapa'ikalaninui, Father of Kamehameha the Great, through his eldest son Kalokuokamaile.",[citation needed] stating that she was of the House of Keōua Nui rather than Laʻanui or Kalokuokamaile. The line is commonly called Laʻanui, after the last Hawaiian surname of that house, or to represent themself as member of the entire family of Kalokuokamaile and Kamehameha's father, the House of Keōua. Some genealogists may style the current line, more accurately, "Wilcox-Laanui-Kalokuokamaile". The like situation may be observed with the House of Habsburg, which has become extinct in the mid-18th century and is now represented by a line of the House or Lorraine which inherited the Austrian crown with the Habsburg moniker, and with the House of Romanov, which become extinct in the mid-19th century and is now represented by a line of the House of Oldenburg, the Holstein-Gottorp or Holstein-Gottorp-Romanov.
