Gallery Yea or Nay?[edit]

Another Believer removed the gallery. A blocked sock put it back. AB removed it again. Peteforsyth put it back. I'm for removing it. I believe Galleries are deprecated in favor of a link to Commons. Can we get a consensus? Valfontis (talk) 03:14, 5 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I find the gallery distracting and unnecessary. The pictures are nice, but perhaps they could be added throughout the article or left in the Commons category? ---Another Believer (Talk) 05:09, 5 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I don't have any strong feelings about it, but it did appear there were some photos there that could improve the article, and the captions look informative. -Pete (talk) 17:04, 5 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hot Lake Hotel Intro[edit]

I would like to revise the intro to this article, to make it more factual and so that it reads more like a Wikipedia intro. My proposed revision is below. I am working with an author, Richard R. Roth, to help him effectively edit this page. He has a conflict of interest--he has written a book about Hot Lake and the commercial enterprises there. His family once owned it. I am not being paid for helping him, just doing so because he'd like to see this article improved and he's uncertain how to do that. Our goal is to train him so that he can become a positive contributor to Wikipedia. We intend to work together on other sections of the article to further improve it by adding citations, correcting errors and adding addition information.

Here's our proposed new intro:

Hot Lake Hotel is a hotel originally built in 1864 in Hot Lake, Union County, Oregon, United States.[5][6] Prior to white settlement of the area, the hot springs that fed Hot Lake may have been used as a meeting ground for various Indian tribes. During its history, the facility was used as a medical facility, a rest stop for travelers and a resort due to its relaxing thermal waters. The building was in operation in one form or another until 1974. After that, operations were intemittant under various owners. Today, it is operated as a bed and breakfast, museum, and spa. Prior owners included future governor Walter M. Pierce and former state senator Parish L. Willis.DanDavidCook (talk) 21:52, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have replaced the previous intro with the one suggested above and am working on that to add citations.DanDavidCook (talk) 18:09, 6 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

additional improvement to article[edit]

I will be working on this article over the next few weeks to improve its quality. I welcome feedback from any Wikipedia editor.Richard360roth (talk) 23:03, 13 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
