Visa Free Map Update Required[edit]

The map does not show up-to-date information. At least visa-free visits to Brazil is now granted. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.176.1.137 (talk) 06:41, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Also the map does not have a legend -- what do the various colours mean? --Gentleman wiki (talk) 19:08, 31 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Failed GA[edit]

I assessed the Good article criteria as follows:

1. It is not well-written enough. The prose is awkward in numerous places. For example, under the "Eligibility and Application section": "See also who is eligible for a Hong Kong SAR passport [1]" There are others, but they are too numerous to mention.

2. There are not enough citations. Some things that could be challenged under the "History", "Usage and Restrictions", and "Consular Protection" sections are uncited. For example, under "Consular Protection": "However, it is not uncommon for PRC authorities overseas to offer consular assistance to PRC citizens of Hong Kong origin traveling on their British National (Overseas) passports." How do you know that it is "not uncommon"? Needs a citation.

3. Coverage is as broad as possible for an article about a passport.

4. It is sufficiently neutral.

5. Seems stable enough to pass.

6. Images all seem fine.

In sum, the article passes criteria 3-6, but I have to fail it because of the prose and citation problems.--Danaman5 01:59, 26 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Missed Information[edit]

I remark the visa-free entry section has not include the United States, please note that. Narold 03:59, 21 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

特區護照≠中籍, BritishHongKong.com[edit]

The essay is only a just-for-fun one and it is not a suitable source for the Wikipedia. BN(O) (talk) 01:20, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

History Section has rather recent information[edit]

The history section has a section which details the judicial proceedings of Aziz Akbar Butt vs. Director of Immigration. The case was rather recent (2007) and should not be in the History section.

Also the final interpretation which states that the Director of Immigration was wrong in his policy is incorrect. Please review the official court documents and revise. [1] --Ndora (talk) 08:56, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

That information was too detailed for this article. If it's truly germane to the topic, it can re-added in a more relevant location and summarized better. howcheng {chat} 22:26, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Visa free travel to Egypt?[edit]

The sources gathered are inconsistent! I have asked travel agencies for HKSAR passport and they all said visa free for 30 days, please check in on consistent sources! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.202.252.163 (talk) 18:00, 20 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Visa free travel to Russia[edit]

Recently an accord between Hong Kong and Russia was signed which will give both nationals the right to visa-free travel once it comes into force. Please read the sources carefully, and you will discover that this has not taken place yet.

"The accord will come into force as soon as necessary internal procedures are complete, and after that nationals of Russia and Hong Kong on a mutual basis will be able to make visa-free visits of up to 14 days," the ministry said in a statement."

Therefore please do not add Russia to the visa-free list until the treaty takes effect, which will likely be some time during the summer. 19:30, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

Improvements to the structure and language[edit]

This is such an article with such great potential - it is such a shame that the structure and language has left the article slightly repetitive and incomprehensible in certain areas. I am going to try to revamp this article! Bonus bon (talk) 09:20, 7 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment[edit]

I reassessed this article to Mid importance, class remains the same at B. I added places where I felt needing more citation during my reading throughout the article. The lead paragraph could use further expansion, given the size of it, 3-4 paragraphs should be fairly decent size to summarize the highlight of the article. See WP:LEAD and WP:GA? Hi Tavatar, many thanks for the time which you have taken to assess this article. I agree that many areas of the article require further referencing. However, I disagree with the areas requiring citations which you have suggested in the Physical Appearance section. For example, I cannot see the reason for needing to cite the appearance of a biometric passport symbol at the bottom of the cover of the latest version (it's clear from the first image at the top of the article!). The descriptions laid out in words are merely elaborations of what appear in the copious images of the passport which appear within the section. Bonus bon (talk) 12:40, 9 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed there's another article called Physical features of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region passport and that article seems to be lack of citations a bit. Given there are other supporting sources such as images and main article for the section, I think it's ok for you to use primary sources such as [2] to provide a brief inline references of where the information came from, or maybe just cite the source of the image you are referring to. I believe it is rather difficult to expect readers to use an image as source without pointing it out with a reference. Tvtr (tlkcntrbtn) 14:09, 9 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal[edit]

Propose merge of Physical features of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region passport into Hong Kong Special Administrative Region passport#Physical appearance. Reason: duplication of information, confusion of the different versions, comparisons could be all listed on one page. --Funandtrvl (talk) 22:04, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Agree. Really don't see why both shouldn't be merged as I have said elsewhere. Other passport articles manage to cover 'physical features' within the primary article. RashersTierney (talk) 16:19, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Disagree. 'Physical features' document is too long to merge back to HKSAR passport. --RayYung (talk) 16:48, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Support: Makes perfect sense to merge the two – they are so very closely related. The 'physical features' article is only 14k, so I don't see how size is an issue; some of the material can disappear in the merger. --Ohconfucius ¡digame! 09:23, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
