Name Incorrect[edit]

The act that this refers is actually called the Home Owners' Loan Corporation Act, not the Homeowners Refinancing Act.

Please see page 47 in the 1st Annual Report of the Home Loan Bank Board (link http://fraser.stlouisfed.org/publications/holc/issue/3007/download/40590/1933_annualrpt.pdf)

Further evidence comes from C. Lowell Harriss whose history of the HOLC refers to the act at the Home Owners' Loan Corporation Act, not the Homeowners Refinancing Act. (link http://www.nber.org/books/harr51-1)

A brief search of the 48 and 49 Statutes at Large (March 1933 to June 1934 and January 1935 to June 1936) only came up with Home Owners' Loan Act of 1933, (Pub. L.Tooltip Public Law (United States) 73–43, 48 Stat. 128, enacted June 13, 1933), and the amendments-to-it act, (Pub. L.Tooltip Public Law (United States) 73–178, 48 Stat. 643, enacted April 27, 1934), and the additional home-mortgage relief act, (Pub. L.Tooltip Public Law (United States) 74–76, 49 Stat. 293, enacted May 28, 1935). Which Int21h (talk) 02:49, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The Barnard link refers "Homeowners Refinancing Act" as being passed 1933 June 13, corresponding to the Home Owners' Loan Act of 1933; the name for this act was still used in October 1984 in the Secondary Mortgage Market Enhancement Act of 1984, which would mean 47 years minimum with that name. This leads me to believe these sources are wrong. Int21h (talk) 02:57, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
