Dubious[edit]

"Diplomatic links between the Kingdom of England and the Holy See were established in 1479"

You gotta be kidding, right? The kingdom of England had diplomatic links with the Holy See from the time of its incarnation. Deacon of Pndapetzim (Talk) 22:41, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

England only began formal embassies in 1479. Whatever relationship with Christianity was not diplomatic, find a reference that talk about Christianity in Britain. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 23:39, 12 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No, the statement is still dubious. The English king, at least from the Norman era onward, has almost continual representation with the bishop of Rome. "Formal diplomatic links between the Kingdom of England and the Holy See were established in 1479" is not justified by the fact that they appointed an official ambassador in this year. That's roughly what the FaCO source says, but this source isn't reliable on these matters, as is plainly obvious from the inability of its author to grasp the anachronism. Get rid of the statement and replace it with something like "the kingdom of England had formal diplomatic relations with the papacy for centuries, but according to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office the first official ambassador was X". If you want more details about England's formal relations with the Papacy earlier, you can use reliable sources like this or this Deacon of Pndapetzim (Talk) 04:42, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, why don't you fill in the missing 1,000 years. I am sure a lot can be taken for the article on Christianity in Britain and Wales. I agree the relationship is there, it just needs to be filled in. --Richard Arthur Norton (1958- ) (talk) 06:49, 13 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

British Sovereign and Vatican visits[edit]

The comment that the audience given by Pope Pius XII to Princess Margaret in 1949 was the first meeting of a Pontiff and member of the British Royal Family since the Reformation is wrong. King Edward VII met privately with Pope Leo XIII in the Vatican in 1903, as did his son and daughter-in-law, King George V and Queen Mary, with Pope Pius XI in 1923. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.146.216.162 (talk) 16:25, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The NOTNEWS policy is a poor excuse to cover up the ongoing reconciliation process[edit]

It only applies to breaking stories, routine news reporting of announcements, sports, or celebrities, mentioning of individuals beyond specified event, and resemblance of diaries. This encyclopedic fact which was added after the event happened doesn't have any of this stuff.JoeScarce (talk) 20:09, 1 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Meh, it isn't relevant. WP:NOTNEWS exists so people don't get carried away and give undue prominence to recent or emerging events. None of the sources actually say this is a major reconciliation event and Argentina just elected a hard core Peronist Government intent on ratcheting up tensions over the Falklands as they always do when they're in economic trouble. You are seriously misguided here. I would strongly suggest you self-revert and stop edit warring. Some light reading for you WP:OWB, WP:NPA and WP:BRD. I fear your wiki career is destined to be a short one and this will end in tears if you can't edit collaboratively. WCMemail 01:45, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
