Controversial statement[edit]

It is said that "Toffoli later provided a key proof that CAs were reversible, just as the true universe is considered to be". This a very controversial statement, since the universe is considered to be irreversible (not reversible) due to the thermodynamics. This is allegedly one of the reasons for not considering that artificial life is possible in silico, where processes are reversible.
