This article needs to be reorganized and reformed.[edit]

Hello, after reading this article it appears that it needs someone to reorganize this article in general. I think the Pioneer family section should just be mentioned as some of the people who were notable in Sarasota's early history. Maybe their could pages even on some of them which would possibly help out. I think this article does good with history until the late 1920s but does not do good any further than that. A few good sections would be: World War 2, 1930s/Great Depression and Post-World War 2 (1945-2000) maybe a World War I section if possible. --Skim • 11:05, 18 March 2017‎ (UTC)[reply]

Skim127, I'm hoping the content can be flexed and molded out now. Would love active input as I think I'm going to take some stabs at this article. – TheGridExe (talk) 18:20, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I tried looking for usable sources for the early history of the area. I haven't found anything specific to Sarasota before the Safety Harbor people built the Whitaker Mound. I have the impression that there were one or more Cuban fishing ranchos on Sarasota Bay from the mid-18th century until the Second Seminole War, but I haven't found a source I consider reliable that says anything specific about Sarasota. I'll try looking some more when I find time. - Donald Albury 22:05, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

History[edit]

The history section should NOT be empty in the main city article. A summary of this history should be included in the main article. • SbmeirowTalk • 09:07, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sarasota County or Sarasota City History?[edit]

When you got to Sarasota County's article, the history section links you to this page. Is this page a history of Sarasota County? In which case it should include at least cursory information on the surrounding area. Or is this only for Sarasota City history? Thanks in advance for any ideas.
