Closing public houses[edit]

"He ordered the closure of all public houses and inns in Nether Alderley, south of Alderley Edge (Chorley), some time after he converted to Islam, because alcohol is forbidden in Islam."

Under what authority did he do this? --Jfruh (talk) 19:21, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The House of Stanley owned Nether Alderley according to Stanley of Alderley, probably until 1938 when it was sold by Edward John Stanley. — Joe Kress (talk) 02:57, 8 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Baronetcy[edit]

He also succeeded to a baronetcy; maybe that could be listed here as well? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 163.1.74.1 (talk) 16:20, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Arabic works[edit]

I think Stanley was invovled in publishing some Arabic texts, or at least one: Fiqh al-Akbar by Pazdawī. Anyone have any more info or references about this?--Aa2-2004 (talk) 19:10, 25 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
