helly hansen[edit]

Helly Hansen Newport ( www.hellynewport.com) is the oldest and most successful Helly Hansen store ( 1998) in north america and i am requesting a link from any HH article to our site. Thank you in advance for consideration. Hellynewport 17:08, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is an article about the Helly Hansen company. A successful store in Newport is not relevant or notable to be included in this article. --Sleepyhead 09:23, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure I agree with you. However, if the link is to be justified, there should be some separate mention of this store in connection with description of the company's international activities. __meco 10:51, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with Sleepyhead that that link clearly isn't justifiable. Sorry. Maikel (talk) 12:52, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There could probably be some mention of Sig and Edgar Hansen from the TV show Deadliest Catch who recently visited the store in Newport. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.192.8.77 (talk) 23:27, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed all links to 'official stores' and instead, link up the official websites endorsed by HH. This article is about the company and should not be used for advertising a store. --Cahk (talk) 01:52, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

HH invented the oilskin?[edit]

Quote: Helly and his wife Maren Margrethe gathered a stock of coarse linen and linseed oil. They designed and sewed jackets, trousers and sou'wester hats for ocean use. Then Helly Juell applied oil to the garments and dried them before an open fire. Helly Hansen's waterproofs were a great success. This suggests that HH invented the oilskin, which AFAIK is not the case. I have rewritten the segment and tried to take out the blurb. Maikel (talk) 13:26, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Norway and Companies project - Helly Hansen history of manufacturing locations[edit]

The history of this company would be made more complete by including the location of the original manufacturing facility, which I believe was in Moss, Norway, as well as the development of the companies manufacturing capacity until present. In addition to improving the Helly Hansen article, it would explicitly establish its connection to the Norway project and be more pertinent to the Companies project by providing an example of geographical trends within manufacturing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.28.192.150 (talk) 20:31, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I added the above comment Johnfravolda (talk) 20:34, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

By all means: research and add the information to the article. Cheers, —EncMstr (talk) 21:15, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
