Rewrite[edit]

This article is a good cursory overview of the Biography associated with Me (Haywood Nelson) yet glasses over fun interesting detail. Additionally the marital status is very inaccurate as I (Actor Haywood Nelson) was never married to Jenifer Mitchell (source?), was married twice prior (Sheryl Piland, Diana Ramos - 3 Daughters), and engaged to be married again a third time to my Brand Manager and Publicist (SkyeAngel Bleuzhire). I am very inexperienced in the editing of Wikipedia yet am aware of the Conflict Of Interest (COI) provided when I attempt to edit my own information. It would help greatly if someone would take up the interest to edit on my behalf. Sourcing is easy for me to provide. I am at a loss of how to provide my fan base with an accurate look at my life above and beyond the typically reported profile. Without a need for grand self promotion there are interesting tidbits that make reading about Me (Haywood Nelson) very enjoyable. Ok, I came across this article by chance, seen the last 3 edits were completely unsourced, not following manual of style, and the text was all messed up. So I did what other editors would do and revert. That being said, if you are the subject of the article, you have a conflict of interest, and while that doesn't prevent you from editing the article, you might be better off using the talk page to discuss and propose. I'm not sure what you mean by 'interesting tibits', but anything added would have to both encyclopedic and sourced to reliable sources. Just saying you are the subject is not going to be good enough. As for the "Jenifer Mitchell" mention in the infobox, since it's unsourced I will remove it as info about living people has to be sourced. Cmr08 (talk) 08:47, 1 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have removed the spouse from infobox, and I noticed it was only added on June 30, so I left a message on the editors talk page wondering where the info came from. Thank you for the response and spouse infobox update. The interesting tidbits I've mentioned are being updated and reflected in my IMDb and IMDb Pro accounts by my Publicist SkyeAngel Bleuzhire. I do not want to create COI scenarios. I only am seeking to keep information accurate. I acknowledge that just stating that I am a particular subject would never be good enough to maintain the integrity of Wikipedia that I myself rely upon. How do I substantiate that I am the subject. I am at a loss of how to get sourced information about me into the Biography section of my public profile, unless there is an Editor willing to accept accuracies and post them. I have been editing for over 6 years now, and still need help with a lot of things here as there are so many different policies, but I would suggest reading up on WP:RS which should give you a better understanding of what can be used as reliable sources. You mentioned that you would be using IMDb as the source for the article, but according to the policy I have suggested you read, IMDb is not a reliable source for referencing on Wikipedia because like Wikipedia, it's user-generated. The link to IMDb can be included as an external link as it already is here. I have no problem helping you here as much as I can, and hope we can improve the article to better reflect your career. What's here right now does not really tell us much about you, especially since your career has been since 1974 and only a few sentences in article, so like I said hopefully we can come up with some sources that can be used. Anything I can help with you with, you can leave a message on my talk page. I also have email enabled, so you can use that if you don't want something posted. Did anything ever happen with this? I just checked the IMDb page and didn't see any new information. Although this might be worth mentioning: "Haywood arguably became the first Black TV teenage sex symbol while on What's Happening!! (1976)" - I think that's true. Maybe there were others before him , but for my generation, if I recall correctly, he was the first. [Editing in: Of course the Jackson 5 were huge, but Nelson was not in a musical group, which puts him in a different category.] All the girls liked him. And our mothers liked him. As for the content you mentioned above, you would need references to reliable sources that actually say these things rather than just recalling them, which I'm sure you already know since you are an experienced editor here. Yeah I know, I was quoting the IMDb article. A Google search turns up references to him as a teen heartthrob, teen idol, etc. I bet he was in Tiger Beat and magazines like that. I'll be back, if I find anything appropriate. --Rosekelleher (talk) 01:44, 29 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
