I added a couple wikilinks and removed the wikification template, but this article's still bordering on incomprehensible. I'll try to clean up the prose a little, but since I don't have any knowledge of the subject, they'll only be style edits. --djrobgordon 08:36, 30 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I totally disagree. I loved this article. The writer had a profound feeling for prose. I really thought that it was nice. DINOSAURS RULE!

changes happen all the time[edit]

The article is quite good, but the part mentioning the changes in the town is not quite right. I do live in Hartenbos and had to accept quite a few changes within the last few years. It is simply not true that "afrikaans speakers" don´t want changes. There are simply too many changes going on at the moment. The whole face of the town has changed. The beautifull beach area is now plastered with high rising buildings, hotels and convention centres. During christmas time the roads are so choc a block full that everything piles up into a huge traffic jam. Outside the holiday season its a sleepy town - but with a lot of empty and ugly to look at holiday flats. Its not about afrikaans speakers opposing the new developments, its about money talks - and they, who have got the money, rule. Unfortunately this shortsighted point of view is costing the people that live in Hartenbos dearly. The scenery is suffering badly, the prices have gone through the roof and local people - coloureds, blacks and whites - have to carry the burden. Some idiots want to turn a nice and sleepy little town into a Surfers Paradies (Australia) or Benidorm (Spain) - and that over night. Sorry guys, that is just too bad. Although I am not a native afrikaans speaker myself, I would like that part taken out of the otherwise good article. Cheers Bayview, 11.August 2006

I took the liberty of changing the last paragraph of this article to a somewhat more neutral tune. The remark of racial distress bears no truth, states no veryfication and defys the neccessary neutrality of a Wiki-article. I also changed the term "afrikaans-speakers" into "locals" as the resistance against some of the planned developments is not entirely based on white Afrikaaners but also supported by the local coloured community and the increasing number of english speaking locals.
