Old data[edit]

As much of the info is historical, rather than current information, I am restoring the History section. I am also removing the highly questionable reference to Hampton being the largest settlement between Bend and Burns (I had hoped that the original text was a misquote, but it is instead based upon a reference that is at least 40 years old, and likely older, as it mentions a PO station). It could be put back into the History section only with an appropriate qualifier. I have also removed the material on the Lane County rail stop to a separate article, as it is more than a bit confusing to find material about another location over 150 miles away included here (I have placed hatnotes on both articles for anyone confused by the similar names). • Astynax talk 19:35, 7 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I specialize in creating articles such as these, so I took the liberty of cleaning up. Usually if there are two places with the same name and one is a minor one with no hope of expansion, I simply put the information together in one article, especially if the article is a short one like this one, but I've gone ahead and renamed both articles to the standard format for such things, as having two articles certainly doesn't hurt anything, and I also made a disambiguation page. Unfortunately it ended up being more confusing because the the Deschutes County Hampton is also nicknamed Hampton Station, while as far as I can tell, the Lane County Hampton has never been called Hampton Station (and note that both places are "Hampton, Oregon" per GNIS). I'm sorry Mr. Friedman's info was inaccurate, but hopefully you can see why I reverted your original changes because your change in wording was not backed up by Friedman citation used. But yes, if it's inaccurate, simply removing it makes more sense. When I create these articles, mostly using what is available to me online and my copy of OGN, I often have very little material to work with. Valfontis (talk) 06:59, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. I usually don't bother with section headings on short articles like this one, but since people seem fond of adding infoboxes to them, it does help pad the article out to be the same length as the infobox, which looks better. Valfontis (talk) 07:05, 8 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
