According to "The Du Bois Family", a 1940 profile in LIFE that is chiefly images, "In 1738 his family moved from France to New Orleans." We now cite that profile here and in the biography of son Billy William Pène du Bois. --P64 (talk) 20:51, 7 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Re surname "Pène du Bois" rather than "Du Bois", as preferred by Guy according to daughter Yvonne and commonly used for Guy and William (not Yvonne or Raoul), see Talk: William Pène du Bois#name and (created today, not yet much) Talk:Raoul Pene Du Bois#Name. --P64 (talk) 20:54, 7 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]
