ENE: Kalevipoeg[edit]

Despised (for hardline pro-Soviet stance)? Yes, he was. Everyone from Estonia or just with more intimate knowledge of the country would agree. The pun? Everyone ^[who?]? Plus adding (and explaining, and quoting) puns about a person is quite an uncommon way of writing encyclopedia?

I am sorry, but the dispute is not resolved. Though you think puns are ok, I do not feel so. So "POV" for unbased "despised" (or was this a referendum in Estonia on him?) and puns. No. I just didn't want to waste my time on compiling a list of Estonian newspaper articles where Naan is mentioned as a pro-Soviet dogmaticist. His political views are held in Estonia in such an esteem as General Vlasov in Russia. Will add sources soon. As for 'being a despised figure', his quite a tragic end (as was discussed in a recent radio broadcast) is quite a tell-tale sign for that. He spent his last years in complete isolation and, apparently, died of apathy, not of any particular disease. At his funerals, there were so few people attending that the minibus the organizers (probably his son) were using for transporting the people remained half-vacant. Naan had retained his convictions, the Estonian people did not share those views. Miacek (t) 10:00, 18 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Estonian article[edit]

The Estonian article is very good and detailed now, I took it as a personal compliment when Jaak Jaaniste cited back in 2009 in the event "Gustav Naan 90" (can be watched here) this article here written by me as remarkable, now the Estonian wiki article thanks to all those collaborative efforts - like a wiki should work! - has by far surpassed the short article here. Hence I suggest all Estonian speakers instead of edit warring concentrate on improving this page based on the Estonian version.Miacek (talk) 09:48, 12 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
