Chloris (bird) → Greenfinch – I think this is a pretty clear case of WP:COMMONNAME. All the species listed on this page are called something greenfinch, we should prefer common names over scientific ones wherever possible. Considered bold-moving but I am nominating for RM just in case there is something I'm missing - I don't usually edit this topic area. – filelakeshoe (t / c) 🐱 21:50, 19 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Support In addition to being more natural and widely recognizable, the proposed name also has the advantage of not requiring a parenthetical disambiguator. A few other interesting nuggets: 1) if you google "Chloris (bird)", google shows a sidebar with the title "Greenfinches", and a link to this article 2) Britannica uses the title "Greenfinch" for an article on this topic (though their description of the taxonomic situation is a bit at odds with ours - possibly out of date?). One possible objection I can see is that greenfinch may also be used to refer specifically to the European greenfinch. I don't think this is a serious problem though - if it's good enough for a WP:PRIMARYREDIRECT, it's good enough for the title. We could also refer to this fact in the intro (or with a hatnote) to allay any confusion. Colin M (talk) 15:06, 20 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
