Comments

Some issues, I have described them by criterion and section, specifying which paragraph in the section the issue occurs.

Well written[edit]

Prose

Some minor capitalisation and spelling problems

  • Lead (infobox): "classical music festival" → "classical music festival"
  • 'Funding' section (third paragraph): "Grammy-Nominated" → "Grammy-nominated"
  • 'History' section (final paragraph):
    • "(Made in Chicago)" → "(made in Chicago)"
      • This is actually the name of a music series, so I put it in quotes. Since it is a proper noun, I think the caps are correct.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 23:38, 1 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • "Cuban Classical and jazz clarinetist Paquito D'Rivera" → "Cuban classical and jazz clarinetist Paquito D'Rivera"
  • 'Performances' section
    • First paragraph: "Harris Theater hosts an occasional Grant Park Music Festival events." → incorrect grammar, a rewording may be needed
    • Second paragaph – 1930s: bariton → baritone
    • Third paragaph – 1940s: "Other performers included sopranos Claire," – Claire who? Explain.
    • Penultimate paragraph – 2000s: "Other performers include pianist Valentina Lisitsa, soprano Jonita Lattimore, baritone Nathan Gunn, mezzo-soprano Jennifer Larmore." → "Other performers include pianist Valentina Lisitsa, soprano Jonita Lattimore, baritone Nathan Gunn and mezzo-soprano Jennifer Larmore."
  • There seems to be a inconsistency in lists of whether a comma is included after the penultimate item. Pick one format and stick with it. (eg. "One, two and three." or "One, two, and three.")
MoS

Pretty good, however the infobox uses contains hyphens, and should instead contain spaced en dashes, and there are some dab links to fix

Coverage[edit]

Broad coverage

Detailed on history, funding and performances. Is there enough material to create a section on public reception or popularity?

  • I can probably put something together.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 00:03, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • I have not found much critical reception. I could add a lot of stuff from the local newspapers, which say that you can't miss this, but I don't think that is really important. Will keep my eye out for more.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 18:11, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Focused

The 'performances' section is quite detailed. I am supposing that the festival is set to continue in the future, and this section could become quite large. It would be good to start to write a List of Grant Park Music Festival performances, to relieve some of the pressure on this section.

  • I think that is a highly unusual list for a performing venue. What this section means to do is briefly highlight each decade. The problem may be that going foward each year gets as long of a summary as the prior decades. I am not a scholar of classical music and not qualified to winnow down each decade list to the true highlights, but I hope for help from other wikipedians in this regard.--TonyTheTiger (T/C/BIO/WP:CHICAGO/WP:FOUR) 00:03, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
