Most popular?[edit]

Does anyone have any evidence for this? Gauloises are surely more popular and are listed on the Altadis website as a flagship brand where Gitanes only have niche status. --DavidCW 23:50, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

NPOV?[edit]

Just curious...how is this article NPOV? Gitanes are a pretty interesting brand with a long history; if anything, I think that this article could be expanded. I'm no expert on the subject, although I have smoked Gitanes and noted their characteristic smell and crepe-paper filter. JustinStroud 18:10, 29 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Not available in the US?[edit]

I just bought a pack of these today in the US, so obviously they are still available here. They do say Made in France on them though, so perhaps this is an older pack (they seem pretty fresh, though). --Ohm 01:22, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You must have gotten extremely lucky or bought some seriously old old old cigarettes - or a knockoff from Russia (not kidding, they make fake Gitanes and other brands and sell them domestically and then some are smuggled into the USA).

I wouldn't smoke those if I was you - and I am not joking or kidding. --Mrtobacco 15:03, 24 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The article mentions that Gitane means "Gypsy woman" without mentioning that the picture portrays Carmen, the eponymous character from Bizet's opera.

I don´t konw the reason why she has to be Carmen from Bizet´s opera, she is just a woman with some elements ilke the tambourine and the "peineta" in her head that makes thing she´s a spanish gypsy woman, I think that the charachter of Carmen isn´t implicit in the image and there aren´t enough elements to think it, althought the image of Spain in France is very influenced about this opera,in this case there´s no more influences from Bizet´s work. I´m sorry about my english but I think it can be read, regards. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.32.252.54 (talk) 12:43, 25 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

LOL[edit]

Never a more sophisticated article on a brand of cigarettes. Only on Wikipedia. . . —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.176.25.20 (talk) 19:47, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And no mention of their delicious taste! --MathewBrooks (talk) 15:33, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gitanes Filter stock in UK changed![edit]

Recenlty Imperial Tobacco has changed the stock supply of Gitanes Filter to the UK market. Sadly the quality of the cigarette has dropped due to this dramatically.

Three versions or four?[edit]

The French version of this article says that the 1910 release was with three versions (and with attribution). The English version says four (without). What gives? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.7.28.58 (talk) 06:06, 2 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
