Turkic origin also possible[edit]

Its a linguistic commonplace that german origin isn't so sure at all, the origin of this name is highly debated even by german and other linguists. Also known that Turkic origin is also possible: güzal means "beautiful" in Türkish. This word is an old and basic expression in Türkish that derives from Old Turkic. During the campaign of the Huns in the V. century, lots of turkic speaking people got in connection (and mingled) with Europeans, and this connection lasted by the end of the Avar era in the VIII. century. Its only a circumstancial evidence, but worth mentioning that the turkish meaning is closer to an "ideal meaning" that a girls name should be originated from, but the German derivation is currenty accepted, because this was the first theory that was spread - without knowing any other versions at that time - by German scholars in the XIX. century. Actually both origin has strong arguments, so both are possile. Karl Hagen 188.142.255.155 (talk) 21:50, 5 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
