The banner on the article declares that[edit]

this is an orphan article. We are supposed to link to other articles. Two such links already exist, which in my understanding of wikipedia (near zero) rules means it is not an orphan article, stricto sensu.

is this sufficient to remove the banner? Nishidani (talk) 11:29, 25 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Strictly, yes, it could be removed, though it would be better to wait till we have a few more links from substantive pages, not just lists, dab pages and the like. And it is ugly. But I'm inclined to leave it for a while, in the hope that it might encourage others to intoduce links to him in other articles (this might in fact have been the case with your second example [1] ). --NSH001 (talk) 11:48, 25 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. You know your way better round the protocols. I've added just one more link, but won't do anymore. From experience these guys like anonymity, flee the limelight (he seems to have disappeared from news circulation after stepping down from his role as General Minister) and would probably be horrified at anyone of them being bignoted by having his name plashed around various articles just to get past the orphan bar.Nishidani (talk) 12:11, 25 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Just a reminder[edit]

... that we'll need a RS for his death. I understand we might have to wait a little while for that. --NSH001 (talk) 09:25, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

He died today, suddenly, at 6 am of leucemia. I'll get a RS when the order announces it, presumably in the next few days. I have been told in the meantime that photos of him, without copyright, have been placed on some Facebook page (which I can't access) but that the photos of him on the websites of the OFM are freely available. See this one at the bottom of the page of The Order of Friars Minor In Communion With The Church. Nishidani (talk) 10:07, 9 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Unfortunately those images are copyright (see the bar right at the bottom), so I've used a low-resolution image instead under the "fair use" provisions. The facebook page is of a totally different Giacomo Bini. Maybe there really is a Facebook page for him under a different name? --NSH001 (talk) 11:36, 10 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, pal. That's great - captures the wry humour of the man I got to know. Let's hope someone can eventually enrich the pages with images of him sitting in the meadows of Rwanda, talking or working the land for food, with locals. The ones I've seen on the net are very low resolution, and not worth it.Nishidani (talk) 15:25, 10 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
