Discusion[edit]

I'm not sure if anyone will check this but here goes...

I'm just doing some reading on the Northern Ireland troubles for a university course and am currently wading through the Cameron report into the circumstances surrounding the violent clashes associated with the first civil rights marches. In view of the pretty damning conclusions of the report re Gerald Fitt MP I think this page warrents some cleaning up. He's labelled 'irresponsible' and 'self publicising' several times, but the article makes reference only to his treatment at the hands of the police. I think this might be mentioned, and it it t'were would give the article a far more even slant. Cheers y'all.

Cameron was a Scottish judge commissioned by the unionist O'Neill government of Northern Ireland (and the sectarian politics of Northern Ireland find quite a strong and unpleasant echo in Scotland, with marching flute bands and the Celtic-Rangers football rivalry in Glasgow and all that), so it's not surprising that he would dislike a Catholic nationalist politician like Gerry Fitt (who is never, ever referred to as 'Gerald'). Circumstances of birth[edit]

This is my first post so I hope I've done it right. The information I have added could be seen as controversial but I promise it is genuine which will be seen if anyone examines the source I've quoted. I won't do anything more until I see how this change is received but because I have the book I intend to bulk out the page with further information which may not have been available when it was written.
