In his early work from 1974-1984 in Germany, Fischer explored theoretical frameworks and system developments for Human-Computer Interaction and co-founded conferences in Germany on "Mensch-Maschine Kommunikation" (1980) and "Software Ergonomics" (1983).[1] His research activities during his first decade (1984-1994) at CU Boulder were centered on domain-oriented design environments,[2] critiquing systems,[3] and the exploration of high-functionality environments.[4]

From 1994, Fischer explored themes in meta-design,[5] social creativity,[6] cultures of participation,[7] computer-supported collaborative learning,[8] support environments for people with cognitive disabilities,[9][10] and collaborative problem solving and decision making with table-top computing environments.[11]

He participated in the development of numerous NSF research programs (including: Lifelong Learning, Science of Design,[when?][12] Creativity and IT[when?][where?][13]). He served as the principal advisor of 20 PhD students.[14]

Since 2014, Fischer's research activities have centered around supporting collaborative problem solving and decision making with table-top computing environments,[11] identifying design trade-offs associated with wicked problems and exploring quality of life as a fundamental objective of human-centered design[15] and rethinking and reinventing learning, education, and collaboration in the digital age.[16]

The book by Ben Schneiderman “Encounters with HCI Pioneers”[17] provides a summary statement of Fischer’s contributions to human-computer interaction research and his achievements to build bridges to related disciplines such as (software) design and (lifelong) learning.

Fischer is on the boards of the Bonn-Aachen International Center for Information Technology,[18] Munich Center of the Learning Sciences, LMU Munich,[19] Wirtschaftsinformatik und Neue Medien, University of Siegen[20] (4) and GRADE PhD School, University of Gothenburg, Sweden.[21]

none of this is "contentious"--why was it removed? yes, it needs work--constructive comments (not "this is a bunch of junk") would be more appropriate.

Hi @Haleden: How goes it? Not really. It is because the section is really badly written by an encyclopeadic viewpoint, has really bad references, often WP:PRIMARY references that don't WP:V verify what your talking about. They are some of the worst referencing I've seen, and that is saying a lot. It has tone issues, no dates and times, no flow from one instance of time to another, i.e. as the thing developed one after the other. Most of it is meaningless pap. I sorry I'm so harsh, but its not right it can't stay on mainspace. I would have sent the article to draft as I could. This is a major scientist and it deserves a better articles than this. In answer to your question in the section above. It is a similar mess and woeful. If you can rewrite it with dates, properly linking, proper WP:SECONDARY, not linking to the landing page of the website, being able WP:V, without tone issues, in a way that the average reader can understand, then go ahead. scope_creepTalk 08:39, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your mostly helpful feedback. I am working on improving the references as I have time.
I am not an encyclopedic writer or an english major; my experience is more in technical documentation, so I am not sure what you mean by "encyclopedic viewpoint"--do you have any references on that?
As to tone, I am not sure what you mean (I certainly know that your tone is arrogant and disrespectful, in part) but perhaps you can help me understand what you find objectionable in the tone of the article (I am probably too close to the writing to see that, and your perspective will help).

@Haleden: Don't put these sections back in. If your not capable of writing a WP:BLP which is one of the hardest things to do on Wikipedia, then I suggest you don't put them back in, as I will need to remove them again. I suggest you start it from scratch and aim for a small stub article with proper WP:SECONDARY sources to establish the person as notable per WP:V. Not website landing pages, nor profiles or press releases, but real secondary sources per WP:SECONDARY, i.e. people talking about the subject to other people who don't know the subject. If it turns back into a something that was before, then it is going to become a WP:CIR issue and I will need to take you to admin. I would try and aim for a small article first and then expand it, slowly. If you plan to try and wrangle those two blocks into something recognisable as a WP:BLP you will likely fail. I write these types of articles, and I was put off by doing it due to the amount of work involved, otherwise I would have done it for you. I will check back in a week or two. If its same kind of condition, then I will WP:STUBIFY it. No WP:PRIMARY references. There is process we follow. I hope that helps. scope_creepTalk 16:40, 3 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
