Untitled[edit]

I'm a bit confused about the dates here. The claims are made that she was born in 1931 and turned 18 during the filming of Rear Window. However, Hitchcock didn't even get the rights to Rear Window until 1953 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stewart_v._Abend). Something doesn't add up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Macleod199 (talkcontribs) 20:35, 6 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

She obviously lied about her age. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iistal (talkcontribs)

Birthdate[edit]

Most of the sources provided by Iistal do not meet the reliable source policy on Wikipedia. IMDB is generally not considered a reliable source because they do not fact check information submitted by users, and Wikipedia does not accept user-generated websites as reliable sources. Most of these pages appear to have taken their information from IMDB or directly state that they have done so. Gamaliel (talk) 16:30, 4 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The majority of online sources say 1931, and only trivia is user-generated on IMDB. Birthdates are not, they usually require cold proof such as a birth certificate, census records, etc. for displaying a birth year that varies from what the individual prefers to appear in print. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Iistal (talkcontribs)
Thank you for commenting on the talk page. Can you prove that IMDB verifies birthdates? Is there somewhere on their website where they say this? IMDB is generally not accepted on Wikipedia because of the reasons I stated above, but if they verify certain kinds of information, then that would make IMDB a usable source. Most of the other sources you provided either take their information from IMDB or do not appear to meet the criteria at WP:RS. In general, Wikipedia finds newspapers more reliable then random webpages. This is all explained at the page Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources. Gamaliel (talk) 22:29, 4 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
No, IMDb does not fact check biographical information except for blatantly malicious information. That's why Wikipedia, as pointed out above, does not accept IMDb as a reliable source and hasn't for a number of years. Look at most biographies on IMDb; you'll see them credited to an IMDb user, not anyone with editorial control. And quite a number of biographies are taken from Wikipedia (but usually not credited to Wikipedia); that makes such biographies even less reliable for use on Wikipedia. I've provided dozens of corrections to IMDb, and I've never had any trouble getting them to make the changes. The only thing that's verified on IMDb is cast lists, which they usually get from the film itself. Sundayclose (talk) 01:50, 5 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
No one is talking about a biography. The birth year is a separate item.
Birth year is part of the biography. Let me repeat: the only thing verified on IMDb is cast lists. If you have evidence otherwise, please produce it here. That's the second time this request has been made. Sundayclose (talk) 01:09, 6 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Birth Name and Birth Date[edit]

I've provided her correct birth name (Georgine Werger) and birthdate (October 14, 1930) based on government sources. The first mention I can find of her stage name comes from October 1951, when she was pictured in newspapers as a member of the "Toastettes", on Ed Sullivan's "Toast of the Town" program. --Saratoga Sam (talk) 00:05, 20 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
