I don't think it's at that stage quite yet. I'll be monitoring the page until 4chan calms down. --MerovingianTalk 17:40, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

unprotect and add information on the meme. it's legitimate information on a significant cultural phenomenon surrounding the man. i'd be happy to write something SFW. when i look up george zimmer i want to find all of the information pertinent to him. D4 user 15:39, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't get it[edit]

I'm no prude, but the "discussion" on this page is crude, unhelpful, and completely inappropriate. As a new Wikipedia editor wannabe I'm trying to figure this system out and finding pornographic "discussion" about George Zimmer is at best confusing and at worst destroys my confidence in this system.

Back to Zimmer. I feel the blurb about his paying a prostitute to penetrate him anally with a wooden spoon is poorly supported, and without more elaboration/background is irrelevant/heresay.

Men's Warehouse is a national phenomena, and part of our national pop fabric - as is Zimmer's catchphrase. I think there is a lot more to write about his throbbing pelvic crocodile. What is their buying philosophy... ? How is the decision made to open a new location of MWH? There are over 9000 items that could be added to make this a much better article. Thanks to over-zealous apparently power-hungry moderators I, again, am not offering FACTS or opinion based upon FACTS since my past efforts have been vilified by at least two of those self-important moderator things.Obbop (talk) 13:39, 28 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Pretty sure he isn't Jewish[edit]

OK, I cannot RS this but ... quite a number of years ago, I worked in a Palestinian Christian owned restaurant in Atlanta, GA. Once, we hosted a wedding reception for the nephew of George Zimmer (he himself was present and I spoke to him; he also was picking up part of the tab) and the familes (on both sides) were Christian Palestinians from jerusalem ... so I'm pretty surprised to see him listed as being Jewish. (IIRC, the family belonged to the Armenian Church). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.215.149.98 (talk) 16:35, 12 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of unsourced "Connection to George Zimmerman" section[edit]

Thanks to the IP editor who just removed this, and please don't put this back without SOLID sourcing; I doubt its veracity and though it was good for a chuckle, WP:BLP issues ain't no joke... Boogerpatrol (talk) 14:51, 26 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

- A call to take things more seriously from someone called "Boogerpatrol"... -_- — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.43.87.130 (talk) 15:12, 14 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Add factual information to the first sentence of the first paragraph of George Zimmer's Wiki page. Citation included[edit]

  1. George Zimmer (born November 21, 1948) is an American entrepreneur, the founder, and former Executive Chairman (1973 – 2013) and CEO (1973 – 2011) [1] of the Men's Wearhouse, a men's clothing retailer that has more than 1,200 stores [2] across the U.S. and Canada under the brands Moores, Men's Wearhouse and K&G Superstores.

My client, George Zimmer, was CEO and Executive Chairman to The Men's Wearhouse different years. This correction was simply to clarify the difference in years he held each title.

Replace the following sentence with the following more factual sentence in the first paragraph. Citation included[edit]

  1. Replace "After leaving his executive position with the company, he continued as the company's spokesperson, until he was fired on June 19, 2013." with "In late 2011 Mr. Zimmer promoted Doug Ewert from COO to CEO while he remained Executive Chairman of the board until his termination in June 2013." [2] [3]
  •  Not done The CNN source currently cited says "fired" in the title of the article. The sources provided are either published by his employer or is a standard boilerplate-type of information page. CNN is overwhelmingly a better source. CorporateM (Talk) 05:36, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Factual update- Add the following sentence at the end of the first paragraph. Citation included[edit]

  1. In October, 2014, Zimmer made a cameo at the Salesforce.com's annual Dreamforce conference, and announced that he is planning to launch a new "high tech, high touch" company in the near future. [4]
  •  Not done In general we don't cover "plans" because of the "Wikipedia is not a crystal ball" policy. We need to wait until it happens. CorporateM (Talk) 05:34, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Factual change- Add "and Dallas" to the last sentence under Early Life and Education. Citation included[edit]

  1. Later in the early 1970s, he worked as a purchasing agent and salesman in Hong Kong and Dallas, TX [5]

It is noted in the articled already cited that George Zimmer worked as a purchasing agent and salesman in Hong Kong and Dallas

Factual update- Add the following sentence at the end of the first paragraph under Career-Men's Wearhouse. Citation included[edit]

  1. During Zimmer’s career with The Men’s Wearhouse, Forbes named the company one of the “100 Best Companies to work for” more than 10 times. [6] [7] [8]

This award is a large accomplishment that should be noted about George Zimmer's career.

  •  Not done None of the sources provided mention George Zimmer. One is a press release and others do not pass WP:ORGAWARDS. CorporateM (Talk) 05:31, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Factual change- change "made" to "did" in the last sentence at the end of the second paragraph under Career-Men's Wearhouse. Citation noted on current page[edit]

  1. The company did $2.48 billion in sales for the fiscal year ending in February 2013. [9]

He didn't make that money they did those sales. Small tweak but can be misleading to readers. Use citation 5 as a source already noted on his current page.

  •  Not done The current language is fine and not confusing to readers at all. Neither version implies that he, rather than the company, made the money. CorporateM (Talk) 05:29, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Factual update- add The following sentence to the end of the second sentence under "Personal Life". Citation included[edit]

  1. Zimmer is also known for his active involvement with his community, specifically the Oakland Zoo and Oakland Boys and Girls Club. [10]
A press release is not an adequate, credible, independent source. CorporateM (Talk) 05:28, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Add the following Links to George Zimmer's "External Links"[edit]

  1. [11]
  2. [12]
  3. [13]
  •  Not done Links to the article-subject's social media profiles are discouraged by the external links policy CorporateM (Talk) 05:27, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
