relinquished claim to baronetcy[edit]

The article at present states "Tomline and his wife had three sons but they relinquised [sic] their claim to the baronetcy", which is sourced to a reference that requires a subscription. Whether or not that source states this, it is clearly wrong, as there is no mechanism by which one can relinquish such a claim. Peers may "disclaim" a title once they have inherited it (and even this would not be a relinquishment), but baronets may not. Further research is needed to see exactly what the state of the baronetcy was: I believe that George Pretyman Tomline had assumed the title on the grounds that he was heir male general of the 4th Baronet, but that his claim was not formally recognised. Therefore what his sons likely did was simply not pursue recognition of their father's claim. - Nunh-huh 22:54, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
