Previous Work on This Article[edit]

I submitted a first draft of the article "Draft:George H Widdows" and this was rejected on 14 February 2015 on notability grounds.

I extended the article and submitted it as a second draft. This was rejected on copyright violation grounds on 19 February 2015 and then it was deleted because it met the speedy-deletion criteria.

The article being submitted on 26 February 2015 is a further (third) draft, which hopefully addresses the previous reasons for rejection. Davebevis (talk) 12:39, 26 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

List of Schools Designed by Widdows[edit]

The list in this section of the article is based on a search of Derbyshire Historic Environment Records available via the Heritage Gateway website (unless otherwise stated in a footnote against the building). Use was made of the Quick Search specifying the words George Widdows and specifying "in any order".^[1]

This list is NOT a complete list of buildings designed by Widdows. The list of 53 buildings comes nowhere near the "60 elementary schools and 17 secondary schools" claimed by English Heritage in eg their listing text for Hope School.^[2]

There appears to exist a piece of unpublished work that might help to fill the gaps. There is a citation within some Derbyshire HER records to "Morrison, Allan B, 2004, Surviving Widdows Buildings in Derbyshire (Unpublished document)".^[3] Davebevis (talk) 12:39, 26 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Image for Architect Infobox[edit]

I have not been able to locate on the internet a good-quality image of George H. Widdows to use in the infobox. However, there is poor-quality one published in the Derbyshire Time on 10 July 2011.^[1] However, I am uncertain whether this is usable in the article, due to the risk of copyright infringement. I would have thought that any copyright would have expired under the "70 years rule", but I am not a copyright expert. Davebevis (talk) 13:18, 28 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
