Japan[edit]

This part does not really make sense. The price for a mile (1.6km) is higher than the one for a kilometer which is, with a high probability, wrong. "As of 2001 the toll fees for an ordinary passenger car was 24.60 yen per kilometre (15.29 yen per mile) plus a 150 yen terminal charge." —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.25.153.16 (talk) 04:32, 25 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Does not make sense." Very diplomatic. According to the main page, the per km number was correct. The stupid and wrong conversion to miles (Japan uses km, and anyone wanting a reasonable comparison in miles will likely also need to convert Yen to whatever) is gone. 210.9.142.196 (talk) 15:34, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe English isn't the first language of the first poster - and as it is about Japan that seems plausible - so its not exactly fair to criticise them for being un-diplomatic ;). Eraserhead1 (talk) 19:10, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Split[edit]

This article was split from Toll road. Discussion of the content of this page may be found at Talk:Toll road/Archive I. Jimp 01:16, 25 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There is also a certain amount of overlap with private highway and private highways in the United States. I'm not sure of the best way to resolve this overlap. Sarsaparilla (talk) 02:26, 21 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Africa[edit]

I added a section on toll roads in Africa since the toll roads in Morocco and South Africa were worth mentioning.

India[edit]

The MPEW, was NOT the coutry's first toll road, we've had toll roads way before that. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 13:58, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe it's meant to be the first tolled motorway. Admiral Norton (talk) 14:55, 19 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
What the hell is a motorway?

If it is a way for motors, then EVERY road in India, or rather the world is one... It was the first Expressway, that is all, but is still counted as a State Highway, as it was built and is maintained by the MSRDC, whoch belongs to the Government of Maharashtra... --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 11:52, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what road terminology you use in India (obviously not British English). Have a look at the article about freeways or motorways to understand what I'm talking about. I believe your term "expressway" describes the same road. Admiral Norton (talk) 12:52, 20 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

We use British English in India.....

| We use Highways, and Expressways.

--Rsrikanth05 (talk) 07:53, 21 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Each country has its own terminology. "Motorway" is the British (i.e. UK) term for what are in India called Expressways, but most are not subject to tolls, so do not come into the tree of articles of which this is part. That is merely the name that a British government chose to adopt in the 1950s, instead of the previous term "Special Road". "Freeway" is I think one of a range of US terms. Since the term adopted in India is Expressway, that of course is what the article on them should be called. However sicne tolls are also collected on improved National Highways, it would be possible to have an article covering both, but I think that is probably not necessary. When I visited India 18 months ago, I was highly impressed by the quality of the Expressways, which are of similar quality to British motorways. However certain other (unimproved) roads I was driven along were terrible. Peterkingiron (talk) 17:30, 24 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Slovenia[edit]

Could someone please change the Slovenian prices according to http://www.dars.si/Dokumenti/Toll/Methods_of_payment/Vehicles_up_to_35_t/Vignette_308.aspx I am not good enough in English to do it myself. -- 93.82.40.3 (talk) 22:30, 20 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

India article[edit]

I am considering creating a new article for India. I have compiled a list of sources. Will create soon. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 10:55, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
