Name of song[edit]

There seems to be some misconception about the English name of this song. It is not "Genie". The reasoning is the same as that the Korean name for "Perfect For You (소원)" is not "Wish" (they use the English name). The literal translation of the title is "Tell me your wish" and hence this should be used throughout the English wiki article.Ledward (talk) 09:59, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, technically speaking, "Sowoneul Malhaebwa" should be used, so I replaced Genie w/ Sowoneul Malhaebwa. Oh, right...I should add a translation as well. SKS (talk) 18:53, 19 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

About merging message[edit]

Between Tell Me Your Wish (album) and Tell Me Your Wish, there is differences definately.

First one is the name of the second mini album.
Second one is the name of the song.

What's the matter ???

Who did remain the message box about merging ???

Technically, they should be merged, as the song and EP are pretty tightly connected. To be honest, I think it would be better served by having only one page, as in Gee (Girls' Generation song). SKS (talk) 18:43, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Umm....and that was not a statement encouraging you to do a separate article. The thing is, the album is not really notable in and of itself, especially with these "mini-albums" that are glorified singles; it's the main song/single that's the the notable subject. As such, having separate articles for the "Gee" album AND single, or the "Genie" album AND single, is somewhat pointless, because all the release information is on the single page already. I think that you are misunderstanding about the concepts of Mini-album and Single album in South Korea. For example, the debut album of GG is "Into the New World", this is a single album definately, the album contained total 4 songs including "다시 만난 세계 (Into The New World)", "다시 만난 세계 (Into The New World) (Inst.)", "Beginning", "Perfect For You (소원)". Two songs among these are the same one, the others are different songs. but "Perfect For You (소원)" among the others was contained later in the first Studio album typically (정규 앨범 1집). Besides another single albums such as 다시 만난 세계 REMIX, Kissing You Rhythmer Remix Vol.1, Haptic Motion, all of these contain only One!! song each other. in the case of Kissing You Rhythmer Remix Vol.1, just one same song is contained. four songs in the single album Kissing You Rhythmer Remix Vol.1 are just various remixed versions, that's all. On the other hand, Two Mini albums are all containg individual 5 or 6 songs each other. In Korea the Mini-album is in the same category, just Mini album has less quantity than the Regular(?) album. Even though the amount of songs in Mini album is almost half of it, those are different sources each other. Thus I'd like to explain that the concepts of Mini-album and Single album are absolutely different in South Korea. I want you not to be confused about it. Something as you said me, such as EP(Extended play), cannot applied here. Please Don't regard Mini albums and single albums in the same light as EP.

What matters is notability. There's nothing notable about an album of one single and 4 filler songs, in the case of Gee. It essentially is a glorified single, or an EP. I know that Korea considers it an "album", but for all intents and purposes, it's a single with multiple b-sides. The more important thing is that one page is enough to contain all the information on both the single and the EP, and in my opinion, the reader is better served with one comprehensive page. Sorry, but do I really need to point out how opinionated your responses are here? You start off by saying that the album isn't notable, and your proof of this is your judgment that it is "filler" and "glorified". You then take this as fact and determine that the mini-albums should really be thought of as singles. Then you finish by asserting that there is no difference between a mini-album and an EP, without regard for the fact that the difference between an EP and an LP is nebulous and defined differently depending not only on the region, but frequently the person. I can agree with the sentiment that a lot of similar pages is a bad thing, but if the single and the mini-album are distinct, both in physical reality and in terms of sales data, then the real question is probably whether or not the two pages contain enough distinct pieces of information to justify their existence. I don't buy the argument that the album isn't notable, because if a release by a phenomenally popular act isn't notable, then the Wikipedia community needs to reconsider the notability of 90% of its content.59.5.237.74 (talk) 17:31, 21 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry if you feel that way, but if one page serves the need for both, in the case of "Gee", then it should stay that way. I'm not necessarily arguing against the notability of the album, but instead saying that the notability of the album and the song are so closely tied together that if there were separate pages for the song and album, a lot of duplicate material would appear. Since no one has said anything on this for over 5 months, are there still issues with the song and album being on the same page? Because in these past five months, the "album" page remains as a tracklisting only, which can easily be merged with the song. Is there a reason why an album page must exist separately? Regardless of whether it's called an "EP album" or a "Single album", the fact remains that an article about a song and the album that contains said song are 2 separate articles in it's own right.

This all comes down to the definition of a "Single album" and an "EP album".

My say on this matter is that let the Album and the song remain as two separate articles, since there is a significant amount of information on the "Single" page (The one containing history, music video, live performance style) to let it stand on its own. Cramming all of this into the album page with the tracklisting would confuse readers as in why is the "Genie" song explained in such detail whereas there is nothing whatsoever on the other songs.Dom117 07:46, 15 May 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dominic 117 (talk • contribs)

Orphaned references in Tell Me Your Wish (Genie) (song)[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Tell Me Your Wish (Genie) (song)'s orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Tell Me Your Wish (Genie) (song) → Genie (song) – "Genie" seems to be the official English title for the song. "Tell Me Your Wish" is just the English translation of the Korean title and is not part of the actual English song title promoted by SNSD or SM (especially on YouTube, Spotify, iTunes, etc.) Same thing goes with page title for the EP. ɴᴋᴏɴ21 ❯❯❯ talk 21:19, 29 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
