Notability[edit]

I'm not sure why an award winning, charity-funded, nonprofit website providing high-quality, free online educational videos that are used in multiple educational settings has been tagged for notability concerns. Cerberus (talk) 18:25, 29 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The awards are not notable and the coverage appears to be mostly press releases. "high quality" is subjective.Theroadislong (talk) 18:46, 29 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with User:Theroadislong that notability has not been established for this website. Hundreds of nonprofits run helpful websites of various kinds but they do not all need an article on Wikipedia. The awards listed in the article do not establish notability for the following reasons:
  1. The "Top-Rated Nonprofit" label on the GreatNonprofits website is based on user reviews which are submitted by people who volunteer for, donate to, or use GCFLearnFree.org. I looked at the user profiles of all the users who wrote the reviews of GCFLearnFree.org for GreatNonprofits and none of the users have written reviews of any other "nonprofits" other than GCFLearnFree.org, which is a huge red flag for me about the credibility of this award (and I put "nonprofits" in quotation marks because GCFLearnFree.org is a website not a nonprofit; the Employer Identification Number listed for GCFLearnFree.org by GreatNonprofits is registered with the Internal Revenue Service to Goodwill Community Foundation Inc. and not to GCFLearnFree.org).
  2. The MERLOT Classics Award is given to numerous websites, so receipt of this award does not establish notability; see the list of award recipients by year at: "MERLOT Awards - Exemplary Learning Materials". merlot.org. Retrieved 30 June 2015.
