Why is there an article on this? Roll it into the main article on this terrorist - two lines, maximum - it was a big, propaganda funeral and some people allegedly stampeded - not notable in the long run. AFD this one.50.111.26.134 (talk) 15:18, 7 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The funeral was a huge event in Iraq & Iran, attended by millions of people. The death toll of the stampede would make it notable enough even if it didn't happen at an important event. Jim Michael (talk) 16:10, 7 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
AGAIN, simply put it in the article of the general. It has no real significance in and of itself, except for political reasons and the people that died in the stampede - a couple of sentences with a few RS's is more than enough.HammerFilmFan (talk) 22:24, 10 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

BBC source has been edited to remove reference to Love Story's theme[edit]

Currently, this article states that the theme from "Love Story" was played at the funeral. It cites a BBC article as evidence. A quick Google search shows that the BBC article DID say that at one point. However, the BBC has since edited their article to remove that detail. Should this Wikipedia page be updated to reflect that? Is it safe to leave a (now) unsupported bit of trivia in this article? Hyperglyph (talk) 18:34, 7 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Stampede[edit]

Its high death toll makes it important enough to be mentioned briefly in the lead. Jim Michael (talk) 12:08, 8 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Am I the only one who can’t take this line seriously?[edit]

“On 7 January 2020, a stampede took place at the burial procession, killing at least 56 mourners and injuring over 200.[4]“ I don’t know it just kinda reminds about the day of mourning over the death of Kim Jong Is. A part of me thinks that detail might be propaganda. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CycoMa (talkcontribs) 05:35, 9 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

"Death to Soleimani" chants[edit]

It is very germaine that it was reported on Jan. 11, 2020 that small groups of protesters chanted "Death to Soleimani" and "Down with the regime."https://www.msnbc.com/david-gura/watch/protests-break-out-in-iran-after-government-admits-it-shot-down-passenger-jet-76502085523

How is that related to this article? The link is about the downed airplane, furthermore, how does this fit into the reaction of the funeral?. I am not sure whether you know what this article is about or not.--SharʿabSalam▼ (talk) 00:11, 23 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
The Iranian government was thrown into a tizzy in the aftermath of the Soleimani death; so, they shot down a civilian airplane. Blaming Soleimani is probably mis-placed; however, it is reported that some protesters weren't hailing him as a hero.--2601:C4:C300:1240:708E:2510:279C:4124 (talk) 00:15, 23 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
IP, This article is about an event called "Funeral of Qasem Soleimani". Your addition is absolutely not related to this event. I dont think Iran intentionally shot down the civilian airplane but this isnt related to this discussion.--SharʿabSalam▼ (talk) 00:19, 23 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Millions mourned Soleimani and all Iranians consider him a hero Shadow.msl (talk) 09:10, 3 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
