Re-written in a more appropriate tone --Ilikeyourdorkiness 14:03, 29 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am by no means sure that the existing pub is the first pub. My recollection is that the Grand Hotel obtained a public licence. There was a stabbing outside it in its first week of business (about which my sister knows more than she will tell me) and it lost its licence.

something should be in this article about Frinton having the greatest ratio of old people to young people in the country. --pmMike 22:05, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Frinton Summer Theatre was actually started by Peter Hoar, who was, I think, TP (Sam) Hoar's half brother. Peter Hoar had an extensive theatrical career, including BBC Television, and also wrote a number of plays, including Murder at Quay Cottage. He ran the theatre in Frinton until around 1962, when Joan Hoar, Sam's wife, took it over and ran it with Sam's help. At some stage Joan and Sam continued to own it but John Collins took over the day to day running of the business. Whether Joan and Sam took it back of it then went directly to Jack Watling I am not sure.
