The series's title's unusual format[edit]

Shouldn't there be some mention of how it came to be that a fairly obscure actor got his name in the title of the series? It should also be mentioned that while that is universally listed as the title of the series, in the opening titles sequence, the "Paul Sand in" part fades out and is replaced by a stand-alone "Friends & Lovers", making me wonder how this name-in-the-title thing got started in the first place. I distinctly remember it always being called that, even in the ads that were promoting the series during the summer prior to its premier in September 1974, yet the intro seems to fly in the face of that. Just wonderin'... Oh, and also related to the title: the opening sequence for the series employs an ampersand rather than the word "and" in the title, so I changed every instance (excepting URLs of course) of that which I could. Unfortunately, the Wiki entry's title doesn't seem to be able to be altered--at least not by me--so that remains incorrect.
