Not sure if worth noting... ?[edit]

Gernsheim's cello concerto was given its British premiere by Pablo Casals (in Nov. 1909) ("Music in Liverpool". The Musical Times. 50 (802): 806. Dec. 1 1909. ISSN 0027-4666. Retrieved 2007-07-17. {{cite journal}}: Check date values in: |date= (help); Cite has empty unknown parameter: |coauthors= (help)) Schissel | Sound the Note! 18:20, 17 July 2007 (UTC) (note: haven't read the notes to the new Hyperion recording which may well point this out of course!)[reply]

If Casals premiered the concerto I think it's worth noting. I wouldn't bother with the Pauer performance - he is unknown, and it probably wasn't a premiere performance. - Eyeresist 05:06, 24 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Almost unknown, but it wasn't a premiere. And the Casals a premiere in Britain but not, I think, a premiere without qualification- will look into that; I've looked through the Neue Zeitschrift reprinted back issues where notes of performances of some of these works (including, at least later on, the cello concerto which became I think fairly popular at one point) were routine, my notes are somewhere... (True, one already knows that Gernsheim was associated with musicians of continuing repute - I admit this would not add information there!) Piano conc.[edit]

Also, a Max Pauer (possibly 1866-1945, son of Ernst Pauer?) played the piano concerto in C minor (from 1869 [1]) in London (cond. Charles Hallé) in Jan 1885 ("Music in Manchester". Musical Times and Singing-Class Circular. 26 (504): 82. Feb. 1885. ISSN 0958-8434. Retrieved 2007-07-17. {{cite journal}}: Check date values in: |date= (help); Cite has empty unknown parameter: |coauthors= (help)) Schissel | Sound the Note! 19:57, 17 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Recordings[edit]

One can add to the list of works so far recorded (commercially) the first and third piano quartets, and the piano quintets. (And will do so, I think, why not...) Schissel | Sound the Note! 13:21, 7 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
