Home base

Why is their home base different from where they play their games? RickK 08:20, 6 Sep 2003 (UTC)

---

The club trains and has offices etc at Freo Oval, but as Freo Oval isn't suitable for playing AFL games they play at Subi.

Page name move

I have moved the page for several reasons: Fremantle FC is the official name, which is used partly to distinguish itself from the "West Coast Eagles", and the club was actually banned at one stage from officially using the word Dockers, due to copyright issues. Pictures

"Righthandedness" is a convention of webpages, and not just on Wikipedia, because we read from left to right. I don't think the "gallery" is an improvement because it breaks up the article.Grant65 (Talk) 02:31, August 6, 2005 (UTC)

New look

Well done Sean, the page is looking great. (Good win against the Tigers yesterday too ;-) Grant65 (Talk) 05:38, August 7, 2005 (UTC)

Cheers Grant, I appreciate the comment. Hopefully someone can fill in the blanks in the stats that I couldn't find...

Performance?

This article mentions nothing of how the dockers have performed over there 12 years in the competition (I am guessing because from as far as I can tell they have performed poorly). Just 2 finals apperances in 12 years (average would be 6).

Statistics

I know this was brought about by today's game - but should there be statistics on this page - highest score, largest winning margin, highest finish, best season record ...? Bjmurph 13:11, 8 May 2005 (UTC)

hey dude, i'll be updating this wiki for heaps man, with all player stats, history, records...but for now, why don't ya check out my webbie at *Freo-Anthology

How hard would it be to get Record Attendance (home and away matches)(excluding western derbies)? Does someone keep this, or would we have to work it out? I think it was against collingwood at some stage. Bjmurph 05:30, 13 November 2005 (UTC)

thats shit

my arse cooda written better than that

The Kooda who plays for Caaarlton? Grant65 (Talk) 12:38, 19 October 2005 (UTC)

my recent edit

I have reverted/reworded some of the things in The Popes last edit, as I felt that the new text was misleading. This may require some explanation:

  • The dockers tough times were really when they were less than 12, not less than 8 - for example last season, while not perfect, could hardly be described as tough (frustrating maybe). Hence, near is more descriptive if less precise.
  • It's a bit fuzzy to say that the eagles hold an advantage, so I reworded it to say they were still winning - plus the record should be in here.
  • Freo isn't just where they train, it's their home ground (the offices are there, plus the website says that's where they are located)

I thought the previous texts was misleading. I guess that's why we can all edit.

  • Fair enough on the first point... my purple coloured glasses made me forget we never got higher than 12th before 2003. The 1997 "one win from making the 8, but still ending up 12th" year tricked me. I'll add something about going sideways since then.
  • I'm not sure that the Derby record needs to be in here. Why only the Eagles record? Why not our record vs every club? It will also need to be updated twice a year... and we get reminded of the score leading up to each derby anyway! Should our record vs each club be on a separate page? Or just a link to an automatically updating site like allthestats [1] or stats.rleague.com [2] be enough?
  • To me home base vs home games is a bit confusing. Being a Perth based member I understand the difference, but many who come to wiki might not. Interesting the first talk question (which I admit I hadn't read before) made that comment. I might expand it a bit. The-Pope 14:58, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
The "misleading" parts to me were really just westcoast having the advantage, and the socks thing (which I didn't mention). Good point on the record, but I think If we were going to take it out, to put nothing back (the Derby page has the score). I felt it should stay in as it's the only record I care about (who cares that we've beaten st kilda 8 times, the important thing is that we've won 5 derbies), but I can see that it's kinda POV to leave it that way. bjmurph talk‽ 11:40, 12 March 2006 (UTC)

Dockers/Doctor

Re removal of the Docker/Doctor disamb heading. Firstly AA, you should know better that it's Fremantle, not Freemantle. 2ndly, if you type in Fremantle Dockers, you get the redirect message, if not, you have "the Dockers" mentioned in the first sentance. Type in Fremantle Wind in the search and you get the Doctor as the first find. Completely irrelevant to the footy club and don't think it's needed at all. The-Pope 11:28, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
