Manbot entry

  • Man-Bot - .... However, many players have found his most useful function is his ability to transfer energy to other characters, which makes a plot twist in the game story particularly inconveniencing.
And what plot twist is this? That he's unavailable for the last few rounds? I don't like the way this sentence fits in with the rest. I'm being bold and editting. -Fuzzy 05:55, 20 Mar 2005 (UTC)
  • Much like the way that Eve, El Diablo and a few others are lost for the last few levels of the sequel. Digifiend 09:39, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

Freedom Force vs the Third Reich

It looks like we're already incorporating the 3rd Reich personae into the listings here. Do we really need to the Wiki-link to the sequel earlier in the article? -Fuzzy

It seems inevitable that the Third Reich information will continue to grow as the game is out longer... should this article be split into a completely separate FFVTR article and one on the original game? -DynSkeet

Done. ^_^ -Fuzzy 03:24, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Wow. Now that was a serious job. Good work! -DynSkeet 12:14, Apr 15, 2005 (UTC)

Recent edits

By the by, I hope no one minds the edits I've been making for the sake of clarity. I'm trying to make sure the style is clear and consistent. *wry grin* Unfortunately, style can be a personal thing, so I don't want anyone to think I'm trying to undo their work or anything. -Fuzzy 13:32, 22 Mar 2005 (UTC)

By the by, is O'Connor really necessary in the listing? He shows up in one scenario and almost all of his background is also in the Minuteman entry. -Fuzzy 13:32, 22 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I still think that the O'Connor profile was extraneous. So I deleted it. I'm willing to discuss if people feel it's important to keep him up there. -Fuzzy 16:23, 26 Mar 2005 (UTC)

GAH. I made an hour's worth of edits, nearly lost them due to a server error, and then noticed that they were submitted anonymously instead of under my username. So the edit labeled 'extensive cleanup' at 12:12, 28 Mar 2005, that'd be me. -DynSkeet

  • wry grin* Been there before. It's especially annoying when you try to do a large-scale write-up like you did. Thank you for your work here. I'd been doing little touch-ups, but you seriously cleaned up some style issues, including ones in entries I had written. -Fuzzy 00:11, 29 Mar 2005 (UTC)
No problem. Glad to help. -DynSkeet 02:57, 29 Mar 2005 (UTC)

FYI, the game was co-published, by Crave Entertainment and EA. EA came in at the 11th hour for distribution reasons.

Blackbird

I don't have my game or manual handy, but could someone please fill in the section about Blackbird? -DynSkeet 10:45, 25 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Done -Fuzzy 16:23, 26 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Celebrity Impersonations

  • wry grin* Why do I get the feeling I opened the floodgates by commenting on how Sky King's voice was done in the style of Jimmy Stewart? -Fuzzy 07:23, 3 Apr 2005 (UTC)
I'd meant to mention that, then found out you'd already done so. It dawned on me later to mention Man O' War... mostly because there's no good reason for a east coast fisherman to sound like Connery! Rings of Rexor! -DynSkeet 01:28, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Red Oktober

Where's her profile? 203.91.92.214 (unsigned)

Someone removed it. I'm not entirely sure why. But it is now back in place. -Fuzzy 17:46, 2 February 2006 (UTC)

Frost Queen

The Frost Queen was a villian in the original game. Remember the level where you have to overtake an aircraft carrier that was stuck in frozen waters? The Frost Queen was the female villian you had to fight, defeat, interrogate her to get Nuclear Winters' whereabouts at the other side of the map. Her profile is surprisingly missing here. I hope I got the characters' name right. --Vgamer101 04:05, 19 April 2006 (UTC)

  • She was a minion, not a foe. But she did have a name, Minuteman called her Olga. Digifiend 09:37, 14 June 2006 (UTC)
    • True. I didn't consider her a foe either, but still an important part of it IMO. Do you think that perhaps it would be a good thing to add a section for minions on this page? Vgamer101 19:37, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Mr. Mechanical

Should it be mentioned that Mr. Mechanical is also similar to Aladdin's Mechanicles? Chronolegion 19:57, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

Shadow

Does anyone remember a Batman cartoon series villainess with a similar story, except for the giant spiders and an underground lair? Chronolegion 20:00, 28 December 2006 (UTC)

Removed One 'Possible Allusion'

Removed an unsourced trivia that the source of powers in the game might be alluding to the Wild Card novel series. Besides being unsourced, the powers in Wild Card are caused by a virus and the powers in FF are caused by Energy X.

If there are no sources added for the remaining trivia in 1 week I will remove the rest so that the article remains fact based. 207.69.137.22 16:16, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

Feel free to source this material and return it to the main article:
  • The core characters of Freedom Force closely resemble the line-up of Freedom Fighters, a Golden and Silver Age DC Comics superhero team.
    • Minuteman and Uncle Sam are both patriotically themed heroes who possess primarily melee skills with no flying powers and almost no projectile attacks. Uncle Sam called himself Minuteman in his first comic appearance.
    • Man-Bot and The Human Bomb are both cursed with the ability to cause explosions unless encased within a protective suit.
    • The Silver Age appearances of the Freedom Fighters usually involved fighting against a Nazi regime that had won the war, quite similar to the plotline of Freedom Force vs. the Third Reich.
  • The collection of heroes also bears a close resemblance to the Avengers and the Justice League of America.

Original Research

Each character description contains a reference likening the character in the game to one or more characters from Marvel or DC comic franchises. However, none of the comparisons cites a proper reference and is therefore considered original research. If there are no citations to verifiable soureces added within the next week, I will be removing these claims of similarity.207.69.137.42 04:18, 13 July 2007 (UTC)

Speaking rather too frankly, calling this OR seems to be in the same ballpark as the incident where an editor insisted that calling a character in Pretty Face "strange" is unacceptable POV and an imposition of our personal value systems, when said character is written as an utter loon and repeatedly tries to perform a sex change on the protagonist on the basis of how cute he'd look. --Kizor 06:41, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

Gameplay?

Is it turn based game? There's not a single word about gameplay! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.77.148.137 (talk) 00:17, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

The infobox says 'real-time tactics'. SharkD 00:35, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
yeah. but you can also stop the game at anytime and give commands in pause mode to play it more strategic. -Lasttan 07:37, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Mentor

Isn't it mentioned that Energy X is how the Domain (and therefore Mentor himself) all got their powers?

That was never mentioned in either the game or its manual, if that's what you mean. In fact, this is the first time I've ever seen it claimed. WaxTadpole (talk) 19:48, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

Reception

WHERE IS THE RECEPTION SECTION?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Every other game has a reception section. But not this. Get off your asses and do it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.181.221.252 (talk) 08:52, 1 June 2012 (UTC)

Pre-ordered versions?

"Pre-ordered versions of the game would add the 3 bonus heroes to the recruit list at some point during the story." Is this so? The bonus heroes were included in mine, and I didn't pre-order. I got it off the shelf at Best Buy a month or two after it was released. WaxTadpole (talk) 22:56, 10 May 2013 (UTC)
