Help with several small updates[edit]

Back in early June I helped create this article and I am now looking for help with three small updates here. My work on the article was on behalf of Guide and for that reason I only edited the draft in my user space. (You can see where I've added myself as a connected contributor above.) Now that the article has been moved live, with the help of an independent editor, I'd like to avoid making any edits to the article myself due to my COI.

1. First, I mistakenly left out that Freddie worked for his father's company, Laker Airways, early in his career. I've highlighted the change that should be made to the first paragraph of the Early career section. This information is supported by the current reference so all that needs to be updated is the text:

Freddie Laker began his career after dropping out of college and joining his father's company, Laker Airways. The same year, he became a DJ for The Womb, a Miami-based pirate radio station.[1] After being shut down by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the radio station used the Internet to transfer the signal between two antennas, making it the world's first 24 hour Internet radio station.[2][1][3] Laker has credited the media attention surrounding this event with launching his career.[1]
 Done

2. It was brought to my attention that Freddie Laker is not the sole founder of the Society of Digital Agencies, though you'll see that the AdAge source I've used in the Other roles section only mentions Freddie as a founder. However, from looking at the Society of Digital Agencies website it appears that there were actually 13 co-founders. I'd like to suggest replacing "the founder" with "a co-founder" in this section if other editors think that change is OK, even though I don't have a source that clearly states he is one of several founders.

 Done

3. When you search "Freddie Laker" on Wikipedia you are directed to his father's article. I'd like to add a hat note to that article, if possible. I've put together the following hat note and markup for an editor to add if it looks ok.

{{About|the founder of the airline [[Laker Airways]]|the founder of the software company [[Guide (software company)|Guide]]|Freddie A. Laker}}
 Done

Thanks in advance for reviewing these. If you have any questions please ask: I have this page on my watchlist and will reply to you here. Thanks, 16912 Rhiannon (Talk · COI) 16:10, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks to Jreferee for making the first and third changes. The second one has not been made: Freddie is the founder of Guide so that was previously correct in the article, but he is the co-founder of the Society of Digital Agencies, which does still need correcting under Other roles. I'd appreciate any help in making this update. Thanks, 16912 Rhiannon (Talk · COI) 15:21, 19 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks so much for making the remaining change, Jreferee, your help is very much appreciated. 16912 Rhiannon (Talk · COI) 14:14, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Biography[edit]

The article is missing birth and family information, as well as what Laker did before dropping out of college. Without these, the biography is missing important life elements. The article headings should be 1. Early life and 2. Career, with other roles and personal life moved into these. -- Jreferee (talk) 00:46, 18 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jreferee, I think it would be great to add details about Freddie's family and early life to the article at some stage. I struggled to find good sources for this information—hence not including it already—but hopefully others will be able to add to this article in future. Without the early life information, I felt that having separate headings for Early career, Guide and Other roles seemed reasonable, perhaps these can become subheads under Career as more information is added? 16912 Rhiannon (Talk · COI) 15:29, 19 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
