Hoover[edit]

The Succession box notes that Kellogg served under president Hoover. This is only technically correct. Hoover was inaugurated on March 4, 1929 and Kellogg's resignation was effective March 28, 1929. It's clear that Kellogg was only keeping the seat warm and the lights on for Stimson. If this is "serving" then I guess we can claim that Kellogg served Hoover.--RedJ 17 13:22, 28 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Appointment by T. Roosevelt[edit]

The article says this:

"During the early 1880s, Theodore Roosevelt appointed Kellogg as a prosecutor in the Justice Department."

That doesn't seem correct: According to the article on Theodore Roosevelt, Roosevelt was serving in the State Assembly of New York in the early 1880s. He had no authority to appoint or nominate someone to the U.S. Department of Justice. SlowJog (talk) 09:41, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I got no response to the above, so I added the "dubious" tag. The article says he was the Olmsted County attorney from 1882 to 1887, after which he moved to St. Paul. It is unlikely then that he was appointed to the Justice department in the early 1880s. If he was, in fact appointed then, it probably wasn't by Teddy Roosevelt, who became President of the United States in 1901. My guess is "the early 1880s" is where the mistake is. It was in 1905 that T. Roosevelt asked Kellogg to act as special prosecutor in an anti-trust case against General Paper Company. This was followed by his appointment the Interstate Commerce Commission and then prosecutor against Standard Oil in 1906.http://www2.mnhs.org/library/findaids/00982.xml http://www.nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/peace/laureates/1929/kellogg-bio.html

I tried to correct the article, using information from the above sources. SlowJog (talk) 03:42, 14 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Birth of parents wrong?[edit]

His dad is shown with a birth year of 1851 which is plainly wrong if FBK himself was born in 1856.--Jrm2007 (talk) 08:02, 9 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for spotting that. The source given at the end of that paragraph supports the statement about the move to Minnesota, but says nothing about his parents. In addition, the names of the parents did not agree with a genealogy website. Since I didn't know how reliable the genealogy site is, I deleted the information about his family. Dead link isn't?[edit]

A link in "Further Reading" section was classified as a dead link.

I just tried it, and it isn't dead. SlowJog (talk) 18:35, 20 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
