Review[edit]

This is a compelling work, I enjoyed reading it. My suggestion is to improve the quality of your sources,it will improve the quality of your work --CKuhnH (talk) 10:21, 7 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Educational assignment[edit]

This article was written as part of an educational assignment at Bath Spa University in December 2019 and January 2020. MartinPoulter (talk) 17:17, 28 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

When was she born?[edit]

A earlier draft of this article gave her the birth date 19 November 1999, but I removed this because it was unsourced. This profile, dated 27 November 2019, says "she has only recently turned 21 years-old" which implies she was born in late 1998 rather than 1999. We don't have to konw her exact birth date, but it would be good to have the correct year with a source. MartinPoulter (talk) 13:31, 29 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Florence confirmed her age on an Instagram story today to be 22 (born in 1998) but I don’t know how to refer to that as a source Televised5 (talk) 00:53, 7 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Televised5: Instagram stories are temporary and disappear after a day, right? In that case, the source isn't published and so can't be used on Wikipedia. (This is intentional: if someone chose only to make a video available for a day then it's a potential violation of their privacy to keep displaying it or quoting it indefinitely.) We can stick to 1998/1999 because a profile said she was aged 20 in 2019, or we could remove it entirely, but we can't have a fact that's unreferenced.
As you've likely gathered, dates of birth on biographies are wrong all the time (people come along and add them based on guesses based on someone making a tweet saying "my birthday party was today" and other silly things), and so editors like me need to be able to prove for themselves that the information is accurate in order to be able to distinguish between haphazard guessing (which should be removed) and true information to be kept.
Thanks for raising this issue, and for Jennahuys for the initial good faith edit. — Bilorv (talk) 13:51, 7 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Culling BLP stuff[edit]

Going to be removing anything within the article that isn't from a reliable source. I'm only a little bit convinced Given meets notability guidelines right now, but don't think there's much point arguing it. I'm going to just delete the bad material and wait for better sources. If anyone has any queries, we can chat here. ImaginesTigers (talk) 17:07, 9 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Given a recent spree of edits, I'm wondering if Given's page needs some kind of protection. The alternate is nominating it for deletion; I'm still not convinced she's notable enough to be here. But for now, if you've been making changes to Given's article, please provide better sources. Linking to the Instagram accounts of other influencers isn't among them. ImaginesTigers (talk) 23:20, 17 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • Bit of a late reply I know, but Given is definitely notable. The page needs more research, rather than judging on its current existence. At the time the above comment was written, I hadn't created Women Don't Owe You Pretty, which evidences Given as a Sunday Times bestselling author (for 12 weeks, peak position #2). That IPs come on to spread Instagram drama is not a strike against notability; I'm sure there are a wealth of good sources out there if someone does the due diligence. — Bilorv (talk) 19:43, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
      • Not sure if you noticed, but I did get the page protected, so not any issues with it, as it stands. — ImaginesTigers (talk) 23:57, 10 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The “Instagram drama” is everyone that is familiar with feminism instantly recognising that the parts of this book that are not shallow “woman’s magazine” advice for teenage girls is lifted wholesale from a highly regarded book written by a POC. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.88.169.47 (talk) 20:27, 2 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
