Flav participated in Public Enemy not as a rapper or vocalist actions of any kind (vocals were mostly done by Chuck D), but as the rap band's drummer.????
Flav is an important vocalist in da group, though Chuck D uses to be da main one. Flav only raps shorter parts in many pieces but is da main vocalist in a few cut in every record. I saw PE live ten years ago and he didn't play drumms.--Erri4a 23:46, 12 Oct 2004 (UTC)

shouldn't the title and what he's refered to be changed to "flava flav"? flavor may be what "flava" is suggesting, but his nickname was "flava" not "flavor".

The name in the credits of the records, in the Fight the Power Live video and the lyrics that mention him uses to be Flavor Flav, or sometimes just Flav.--Erri4a 00:01, 11 Nov 2004 (UTC)
For instance, you may read Cold Lampin' With Flavor's lyrics at PE's official site. I'd never read that Flava Flav name before Wikipedia. Did Flav use it anywhere?--Erri4a 14:01, 4 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Anti Semetic thats like saying the black man hates himself because a semite is and was a blackman!

Thank you, Sammy Davis Junior.
Huh????

Can we please not have chat-like banter like this here? TO whoever edits, I move that anything not related to improving or criticizing the page be deleted. Also, to all folks who post, please sign your posts.Kuahmel (talk) 13:49, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

"straight up"?

While the article states that Mr. Flav always had his clock set to 12 or 6, both his pictures show them showing some random time (presumably the *correct* time). So, just remove the "straight up" reference? - Kamagurka 13:06, 4 January 2006 (UTC)i'm a very special person

Flavor of Love

Where is the information about the outcome of the show coming from? I was telling one of my friends about the band Magazine one day and we were watching that show the next. I want to be sure that's correct before I bring it up in conversation and look like an idiot down the road. Pimpalicious 02:54, 11 January 2006 (UTC)

All the "Internet rumors" seem to point to this article as showing the proof. Since noboy can prove anything as the final show hasn't aired, really the "New York" win (and in some cases "Pumkin") should be kept out of the article. 206.156.242.39 15:32, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

clock

The article states that "The clock is set to either twelve o'clock ("straight up") or six o'clock ("straight up and straight down")." The picture of Flava Flav wearing a clock in the radio station studio doesn't look like the clock is set to this time. Where did the 6:00/12:00 information come from? 66.58.113.18 03:29, 20 February 2006 (UTC)

No it is set to 12:00 in the picture, just doesn't look like it because of the angle of the shot. --12.221.216.171 10:15, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

Rubbish - your eyes must be twisted :) It's clearly not set to 12 or 6, just like it isn't at [1], [2] or [3] - I don't think any of those are impersonators, anyway. StephenFalken 14:11, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
Seconded --Kamagurka 16:31, 30 July 2006 (UTC)
Yes, it's evident that it isn't set to 6 or 12. 66.55.225.252

Umm... the article doesn't appear to mention the clock anymore ??? 15.211.169.100 12:00, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Yep, the word "clock" doesn't appear in the article. Nosleep1234 13:00, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

Counter Strike?!?!

I deleted a reference to a Counter-strike clan. It has nothing at all to do with Flavor Flav. If anyone isagrees, feel free to discuss it here.Gamer83 15:58, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

User TeslaDeathRay continues to edit in advertisements for his counter-strike clan. Will other please comment on this practice and explain why it is against wikipedia policy.Gamer83 23:51, 11 October 2006 (UTC)

I agree, this has no place in the article. I am deleting it again.

Ok, this is why we think that our clan should be under the searchword "Flavor Flav"; we, as a dedicated CSS team have named ourselves "Flavor Flav" after the love and fandom for William Drayton Jr. himself [Flavor Flav] If you notice, we didn't put our clan's section under Flav's biography section, we put it under a section of the article. We aren't saying that this clan is apart of Flavor Flav's life, we are saying that there is a counterstrike source clan that is in the top of its division that is competing under the name "Flavor Flav". Many people in the CSS competitive community know about us and if they want to search or clan on wikipedia, they will find the life of Flav AND the Flavor Flav team. We definately aren't vandilizing this article, we are simply adding a subsection of the name "Flavor Flav".

To gamer83, Please learn to think about other people's views and thoughts, and not your own SET IN STONE thoughts about what should be on that page. I'd also advise you to read over your posts because your spelling is atrocious. Thank you for your time sir. -Chris "Friar" Gitre.

You cannot link your counterstrike clan in this article it is against wikipedia policy.Gamer83 00:18, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

Please refer to Wikipedia policy Wikipedia is not a soapbox . It's cool that you guys names your clan after Flavor Flav, but that does not mean that it belongs in this Encyclopedia article. Your clan’s continued vandalism is the reason this page had to be locked. Also Ad Hominem attacks are not welcome on Wikipedia..Gamer83 00:25, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

So, by your reasoning, if someone wants to find out more about our team, they will not be able to find it here. Am I right?

You are correct. And it's not my reasoning, it's Wikipedia Policy. Start a new page for you counterstrike group....but I'd be willing to be that it won't last to long as it really isn't appropriate for you to use Wikipedia to advertise your clan. Wikipedia is not a soapbox you cannot advertise your clan here. Also please sign your posts. Gamer83 00:38, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

So your telling me that its wikipedia policy to not let something about the keywords "Flavor Flav" be on the "Flavor Flav" page? Lets say that I post css things under the BIOGRAPHY section of "Flavor Flav". Then I understand you, but as I am posting this information on the COUNTER STRIKE SOURCE part of the page, there should be nothing wrong.

  1. Propaganda or advocacy of any kind. Of course, an article can report objectively about such things, as long as an attempt is made to approach a neutral point of view. You might wish to go to Usenet or start a blog if you want to convince people of the merits of your favorite views. You can also use Wikinfo which promotes a "sympathetic point of view" for every article.
  2. Self-promotion. You are free to write about yourself or projects you have a strong personal involvement in. However, do remember that the standards for encyclopedic articles apply to such pages just like any other, including the requirement to maintain a neutral point of view, which is difficult when writing about yourself. Creating overly abundant links and references to autobiographical articles is unacceptable. See Wikipedia:Autobiography, Wikipedia:Notability and Wikipedia:Vanity.
  3. Advertising. Articles about companies and products are acceptable if they are written in an objective and unbiased style. Furthermore, all article topics must be third-party verifiable, so articles about very small "garage" or local companies are not likely to be acceptable. External links to commercial organizations are acceptable if they can serve to identify major corporations associated with a topic (see finishing school for an example). Please note Wikipedia does not endorse any businesses and it does not set up affiliate programs. See also WP:CORP for guidelines on corporate notability.

Please tell me how we are violating those rules. We arent contributing propaganda, we aren't self promoting, and we aren't advertising anything. We are simply adding information to the page about all things that are Flavor Flav. ^ownt #flav #club.187 #URBAD

Read the link I posted above. You can't do that. It is against the rules. Adding a new section for a countersrtike source clan IS vandalism. The section itself is inappropriate for this article as it has nothing at all to do with Flavor Flav's life....and this is a BIOGRAPHY for Flavov Flav, not his fans. Please read up of Wikipedia Policy to learn how to make meaningful contributions to the site. You have broken the rules because you are advertsing your counterstrike clan. It has nothing to do with Flavor Flav's life. This is a BIOGRAPHY page Gamer83 01:12, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

....THATS WHY I DIDNT PUT IT UNDER THE BIOGRAPHY SECTION..............................................ARE YOU NEW? Tell me why there is a distinct section 1. Biography when the whole thing is his biography.... it's so that other things pertaining to Flavor Flav can be added, such as Fan club sites, or CSS teams named after him, or products he has sponsered.

The Flavor Flav CS team can be on the wikipedia page because it is promoting and supporting it. I dont see any reason why this is wrong in any way. You just make a new subsection/title entitled Counter-Strike:Source or something and add the relevant info there.

-Mr_Butter

Now you are vandalizing this talk page...please do not blank pages. I can't explain this to you guys and clearer. You break too many rules. Expect to be reported for these further violations. Gamer83 01:31, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

Flavor Flav CS:S Clan

The video game clan is completely unrelated to the article. This isn't a video game article. Period. And besides, the article needs actual improvement, not irrelevant WoW (or whatever the hell the videogame is) bullshit. Flavor Flave has been compared to Stepin Fetchit over and over in the media, but the twits who submit data to this don't even know who the fuck that is. --Ragemanchoo (talk) 05:08, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

User signings

Several people signed their users in the article using the 4 tilde thing. An example of one of these:

**if any1 changes this then they're ****** **--4.224.141.13 19:38, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Avoid this crap. Also, it's probably worth someone with more knowledge on the subject checking other content if people are shitposting like this. Hippoking 21:20, 18 February 2007 (UTC)

Flava vs. Flavor

I don't know who Flavor/Flava Flav is beyond name, but after reading part of this article, I think it should be decided how his name is spelled in the article. Considering he had an album called "Flavor Flav," I'm going with the "-or" over the "-a." 24.214.17.123 01:17, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

done. as i understand it, his current official name is -or (and he clearly pronounces the 'r'). Rob* 10:33, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Flavor Flav has stated repeatedly on this season of his VH1 reality show that his name is Flavor and not Flava. He also mentioned someone else in the rap community has the name "Flava". Please finish correcting his name throughout the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 138.16.12.169 (talk) 02:27, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

For what it's worth: In Def Jam: Fight for NY, he's listed as Flava Flav. Assuming, of course, that Flava isn't a different person. --Duneflower, resident weirdo (talk) 09:16, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

Height

At the Comedy Central roast, much was made of Flav being small. What is his height and weight?```` They meant his penis. lol.

- Very funny! Somebody also edited the article to say he joined a gang and molested children, it's been up for a day now (ya gotta love Wikipedia!). Someone with a better connection than mine should revert those changes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.83.127.164 (talk) 14:59, 2 September 2007 (UTC)

"Flavor of Love" plagiarism

Just a heads up - the last paragraph of the "Flavor of Love" subheading was copied word for word from its source. Not only is it plagiarism, it disrupts the flow of the article, repeating information already stated. 71.11.215.216 (talk) 18:46, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Emphasis on his Hip-Hop career

As Flavor Flav is a Hip-Hop based entertainer first and foremost, the Hip-Hop music side of his career should get priority over any reality TV based efforts, regardless of whether or not people these days remember him for it. The discography, for example, should be moved up the article. He has also been one of the longest-runing hype men for any rap act out there. More of the personal details that are public record should find their way into the article as well. Flavor Flav has been a well known pop culture figure in the news for over 20 years, and the article should reflect that more so than reducing him to just another reality TV subject.Kuahmel (talk) 13:49, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

While all that stuff is true, I'm not sure how that merits moving things around to highlight his career in music. This isn't an article from 10 years ago, it's current. --75.95.95.227 (talk) 03:39, 5 May 2008 (UTC) he fucked delicous on 4/5/08.

Stepin Fetchit

Flavor Flav has been compared to Stepin Fetchit (and similar characters) numerous times. Why isn't there ANY criticism at all in the article? I mean, damn. Come on, people. --Ragemanchoo (talk) 07:28, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

Oh come on, people. I know you're combing through this article. COME ON. --Ragemanchoo (talk) 05:05, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
If you have anything actually on the record, feel free to add it. Otherwise it's POV and better left out.Kuahmel (talk) 07:58, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
I'm fairly sure I already added it in the form of a See Also section, but an unobjective fan probably got rid of it. --Ragemanchoo (talk) 02:51, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Huh?

Can somebody please decode:

With the 1990s single, "911's a Joke", became a big hit and made Flav, this however wasn't the first track Flav Rapped on solo it was on It Takes A Nation... on "Cold Lampin Wiv Flavor", along with Chuck D, the showman of the group and its promotional voice, as he often got the crowd hype and with his big glasses, even bigger clock dangling from his neck and wearing big hats, the rapper stood out among his fellow PE group mates.

and translate it into English? --67.240.156.15 (talk) 13:16, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

I cleaned up the entire music section. I don't think I removed any facts, mostly using the existing wording but with improved grammar. I used the text as it was, which differs somewhat from the text you quoted, so there may be some factual issues. The flow still feels off to me, but it's the best that I can put together at the moment. Martin Blank (talk) 15:18, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
