Fess up

Fess is an odd name. Is it perhaps of French origin? Tsinfandel (talk) 10:46, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

I doubt it. For one thing, "fesse" means "buttock" in French (or did you know that?). (According to IMDb.com, he was billed as "Fier Parker" in France for exactly that reason!) Kostaki mou (talk) 00:00, 28 January 2014 (UTC)
Apparently he was named after his father, Fess Parker Senior. Maybe it was short for Festus? Muzilon (talk) 11:29, 21 March 2016 (UTC)
Think that "diminuitive of Festus" is the correct answer. Also, "Fier" is French for "Proud", and "Proud Parker" is a whale of a state name, IMO. 2600:1004:B16E:DE84:459B:68BF:6A20:D7C0 (talk) 01:50, 29 June 2017 (UTC)
