Edited with updated information, including revised contribution limits per McCain-Feingold. Most information pulled from FEC web site, especially http://www.fec.gov/pages/brochures/fecfeca.htm Me Ningless 03:17, Jun 13, 2004 (UTC)

I took out reference to unintent(ion)

cuz I don't know if we can know what was intended when certain rules were streamlined, allowing soft moeny to flow like water on pavement. It finds every crack and crevice.

The sentence may need a touch up. I just took "unintentional" out, so I messed up the flow a little, but I wasn't confident in making any more changes. Kzzl

Other Changes: I'm going to remove the "This Article Needs To Be Updated Tooltip", because the article is of the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971... not an article on the current policies of the FEC. Updating the information would make it inaccurate and untrue. If anything, different sections should be added describing the effects of the original act and others showing the changes done by the amendments. Then, the aritcle only needs to refer to other laws and acts that had changed such policy. I do not have an account on wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.173.188.154 (talk) 19:14, 6 April 2008 (UTC)

History of the 1971 bill, and 1974 amendments, needs work

What forces combined to produce this bill? Who introduced it? What changes were made as it went through committee(s)? Who opposed it? What were the political party affiliations? What were the votes, in committee(s), in the House, in the Senate? Which party controlled the House and Senate? Ditto, with the 1974 Amendments: what was the history? Obviously, this was in part a reaction to Watergate, the CREEP, and all that was going on -- President Ford vetoed the amendments to FECA, but his veto was overridden. Honest Ads Act

For anyone that has the chance to review/assist, please see the linked, newly created article: Honest Ads Act. Shaded0 (talk) 23:26, 9 November 2017 (UTC)

Very little verifiability

There are only two sources and just a single citation in the body of the "History" section. Much of the information cannot be found in the two sources. 20:19, 4 December 2019 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aidan J Fox (talkcontribs) 20:19, 4 December 2019 (UTC)
