Calabi's institutional history[edit]

Calabi's talk at the 1954 International Congress of Mathematicians gives his affiliation as Louisiana State University. <https://www.mathunion.org/fileadmin/ICM/Proceedings/ICM1954.2/ICM1954.2.ocr.pdf> 100.36.42.95 (talk) 12:33, 8 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Place of birth[edit]

Calabi seems to have been born in Milan. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.75.119.235 (talk) 13:42, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that’s what it says in the infobox. Why are you pointing it out? Gumshoe2 (talk) 14:03, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Primary sources[edit]

The problem of primary sources is restricted to the new section on "Research". No proper inline secondary or tertiary sources were provided. There are extensive surveys/essays in the 2021 Collected Works, which so far are not available online. Those WP:RSs would be valuable for this current section. The "Research" section is out of balance with the previous biographical section. Adding WP:BLP material requires great care; adding any improperly sourced biographical material would result in content being removed. The "Research" section does not appear to be biographical, hence the neutral and anodyne tag. It's up to the editor to improve the sourcing (secondary or tertiary), if they can. The only question here seems to be about whether the tag should be article-wide or restricted to the research section. Partly based on your initially stated "BLP doesn't mention wife & family, Simons Found., biographical interviews with EC, tributes & evalns in coll. works, music, etc" I moved to article-wide. Your explanation "placing the tag in a more respectful way taking into account that Gene is 98 & was a friend as an graduate student" of your reversion is of highly dubious relevance. Anyway, I think all parts of the article could use better referencing but I will leave the tag wherever you like. Gumshoe2 (talk) 15:30, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I will leave the tag wherever you like. Thanks, Mathsci (talk) 16:08, 26 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Recent death[edit]

I have been informed by e-mail from very reliable personal sources that Eugenio Calabi died this past Sunday (9/24/2023). I am unable to find any WP RS with this news. 2607:F470:E:22:9856:B5D5:BAB5:9EB0 (talk) 13:44, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

2016 IAS interview[edit]

His IAS Oral History Project Interview might contain some biographical details worth adding to the article, but it would be good to have some secondary sources to back up any claims (cf. WP:Interviews). 70.181.1.68 (talk) 06:08, 28 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
